Celine Dion
[edit]Re this edit. Template:Infobox person provides for parent names to be "include(d) only if they are independently notable or particularly relevant". I do not see that Mr Dion has any claim to notability. WWGB (talk) 05:35, 22 November 2020 (UTC)
Procedures
[edit]I am User:Johnuniq and WWGB is User:WWGB. We are two different people with no connection. I wrote the "Welcome" section at the top of this talk page after seeing your edit at Infinite monkey theorem in April 2019. WWGB wrote the "Celine Dion" section just above after receiving a query relating to an edit at Celine Dion on 2 November 2020. Everyone has or had a father. WWGB is correct that the procedure at Wikipedia is to only mention a father in an infobox if the father is independently notable. At Wikipedia, that is jargon to mean that Adhémar-Charles Dion would be a blue link to an existing article. As also mentioned, there is an "or particularly relevant" condition. However, since everyone has/had a father, particularly relevant would mean, for example, well known for coaching or managing Celine Dion in her career. At any rate, the place to discuss an article is on its talk page, namely Talk:Celine Dion. Only confidential discussions require email. You might start by asking at WP:Teahouse where other editors would be happy to explain procedures. Johnuniq (talk) 08:50, 22 November 2020 (UTC)
