Thanks!
I'm off on a 10-day trip, and will hopefully be staying away from computers for much of it. Look forward to replying in more detail when I return, and plotting a course to better OR gov't pages!
Happy wikiing, -Pete 12:05, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
renaming Mt. to Mount
It looks like you're well into it. Thanks for doing that, but just in case you thought it was easy, here are a couple wrinkles you might look for:
- Mount Hood revision 98950283: near lines 36, 64, 133, 149, 184, 207, it changed the title of external articles in the cites. This won't break anything, but does create a small mismatch between what the citing calls the article, and the actual article.
- Mount Hood National Forest 98950378: this one breaks the image links. Will you be renaming those as well?
- Mount Hood Wilderness: same thing.
—EncMstr 22:11, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
- I am trying not to change links to images, but a few may slip through. There are almost 7,000 instances of "Mt." or "Mt" for mountain that I have found so far. So, for the rest of today, I'm limiting my work to a subset: those referring to Mount Hood. I thought I'd review the changes made on that batch afterward by going through "my contributions" to see if I could spot any changes that shouldn't have been made, and revert them (and come up with a strategy to avoid repeating those errors). AWB defaults are not always what I expect, and I am checking the changes before saving them, but sometimes the result in full context is not obvious from what is displayed in AWB. Also, I can't move/rename if the correct name already exists and redirects to the abbreviated one. In those cases, I'm having to list them on the Move Requests page for an Admin to deal with. (I can't believe how much total garbage pops up when you do an odd search like this. A "notability" freak could become apoplepctic.) -- "J-M" (Jgilhousen) 22:21, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
Mt. Spokane High School
Just as an FYI, I've moved your request to move Mt. Spokane High School from uncontroversial to controversial. As odd as it may seem, Mt. Spokane High School is the school's official name, not Mount Spokane High School. Check out the image of the front of the school and the school's homepage. --Bobblehead 05:20, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
Mt. Juliet, Tennessee
I appreciate your desire to rename "Mt." to "Mount", but in this case, your edit is erroneous. The city's official name is written in the city charter in the abbreviated form. The longer "Mount" is accepted, but technically incorrect. --Zpb52 23:35, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
Well, Phooey
Here I come back from my wikibreak and now you're going? I hope you come back! Enjoy a nice contemplative wikibreak and stay in touch. We'll miss you around the WikiProject. I really appreciate all the hard work you've put in on the government stuff. In the meantime I'll be watching the Capitol Channel and trying to keep up the government articles for ya. Katr67 05:57, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
echo...Phooey.
I was excited to see someone was doing such excellent work in the areas that interest me. I hope you come back! Enjoy the break though, I gotta say I can understand why you might need one...this stuff is addictive! -Pete 02:48, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
Wikibreak permanent?
Your user page wikibreak notice hints that you might not come back. If that is due to lack of respect or desire from the Oregon wikieditor community, let me be clear: Please come back! I'm amazed at the number of articles which you've had a significant hand in; no wonder you flamed out! Katr67 burned out for awhile too—perhaps you worked too closely together? Anyway, I hope you'll return. I eagerly await seeing more of your magic. —EncMstr 23:10, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
As with the high school and the city mentioned above, "Mt. Baldy" is the NAME of the resort. It is a trademarked name and not an abrreviation. Although the renaming was accomplished with good intent, it was unecessary and should be remedied. -Shaggorama 18:19, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
Helping out with the Unassessed Wikipedia Biographies
Seeing that you are an active member of the WikiBiography Project, I was wondering if you would help lend a hand in helping us clear out the amount of unassessed articles tagged with {{WPBiography}}. Many of them are of stub and start class, but a few are of B or A caliber. Getting a simple assessment rating can help us start moving many of these biographies to a higher quality article. Thank you! --Ozgod 20:49, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

The newsletter is back! Many things have gone on during the past few months, but many things have not. While the assessment drive helped revitalize the assessment department of the project, many other departments have received no attention. Most notably: peer review and our "workgroups". A day long IRC meeting has been planned for October 13th, with the major focus being which areas of the project are "dead", what should our goals be as a project, and how to "revive" the dead areas of our project. Contribute to the discussion on the the new channel (see below) We decided to deliver this newsletter to all project members this month but only those with their names down here will get it delivered in the future. This is your newsletter and you can be involved in the creation of the next issue. Any and all contributions are welcome. Simply let yourself be known to any of the undersigned or post news on the next issue's talk page
Lastly, a new WikiProject Biography channel has been set up on the freenode network: Our thanks to Phoenix 15 for setting it up.
