A tag has been placed on User:Jfloyd073/sandbox, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Need helping posting from my sandbox

[edit]

I need help posting from my sandbox. Can somebody help me with this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jfloyd073 (talkcontribs) 18:59, 18 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, your sandbox content was clearly promotional. If you have an association with Furtenburg, Inc., you need to disclose that per the conflict of interest and paid editing policies. Wikipedia is not a place to merely tell about a company. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia that summarizes what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about a company, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable company. Please see Your First Article for more information. Writing a new article is the absolute hardest thing to do on Wikipedia, and it is even harder with a conflict of interest. 331dot (talk) 20:54, 28 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

(talk) Thanks for the feedback here. I'm trying to get used to Wikipedia. My client is requesting that I create his business an article on Wikipedia. I've tried from his account and was deleted, so I created a new account for myself, I've attempted to remove anything that resembles a "call to action" or "promotional". I tried to add the conflict of interest and paid editing policies within the article. I've been going back and forth for months trying to simply put his business on Wikipedia, I don't understand the issue. The content in the article is factual information, i.e. "This is the business. This is what they do. This is when they were founded.", I don't understand the issue with that? I contest that the content is promotional in it's current form, in fact I believe it's a non-bias and neutral as describing a financial service company could possibly be. Please advise.

If this company is your client, you are required by the Wikipedia Terms of Use to review the paid editing policy and make a formal declaration. You should also review conflict of interest.
Promotion does not just mean soliciting customers or selling something, at least on Wikipedia. It means merely telling the world about something. As I said, Wikipedia is not a place to merely tell about a company, or as you put it "This is the business. This is what they do. This is when they were founded." Wikipedia is not a business directory where every business in existence can potentially get an entry. This is an encyclopedia. As I state above, Wikipedia is only interested in what others say about this business with significant coverage(not press releases, announcements of routine business transactions, what a business considers to be its own history, and so on) showing how it meets the Wikipedia definition of a notable business. (please review if you haven't already) Because of this, not every business merits an article, even within the same field. As an example, Ford Motor Company merits an article because many people completely unconnected with the company have chosen to write extensively about Ford Motor Company and its history, key personnel, its products, effect on manufacturing, and so on. The article does not contain what Ford considers to be its own history, but what others say it is. Your draft cited nothing but the company website and the results of a search merely confirming when the company was founded. This is not significant coverage. The news or some other independent publication needs to take note of the company on their own and choose to write about it in depth. Once editors notice such publications, they may choose to write an article.
To be frank- and I apologize- Wikipedia is not interested in whether a potential article subject like a company wants an article or not. (there are actually good reasons to not want one) Whether a company merits an article or not depends on the sources. Unless reputable, independent publications have chosen to write about your client, they will not merit an article on Wikipedia. Feel free to show your client this message. 331dot (talk) 13:52, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
