Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Jewelthief5000, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one of your contributions does not conform to Wikipedia's Neutral Point of View policy (NPOV). Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations that have been stated in print or on reputable websites or other forms of media.

There's a page about the NPOV policy that has tips on how to effectively write about disparate points of view without compromising the NPOV status of the article as a whole. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Questions page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, click here to ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. Below are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Hello, you have messaged me. Which edit I have made that you consider not coming from a neutral point of view? My interest on the page is to fill in some gaps , and I can see there are many errors on the page including several dates.

The biography of Rajneesh can have more depth and that is my interest. 82.132.225.48 (talk) 14:41, 17 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The message was meant generally. The only contributions you have made since you joined have been to Rajneesh. This indicates that you have a particular interest in this subject and may have difficulty adhering to the neutral point of view policy. That is the issue. I know that I have difficulty maintaining a neutral point of view in areas I feel strongly about, so over the years I have edited Wikipedia I have learned to avoid editing those articles unless it really is something non-controversial, like fixing a wrong date or a typo. Your edits have gone way beyond that, and indeed have been challenged by several editors. When that is the case, it is important to gain consensus before making changes to a long-established version.
May I suggest that you take a break from editing Rajneesh for now and focus on other topics to gain more experience of Wikipedia and how it works? Lard Almighty (talk) 15:02, 17 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Lard Almighty I am a historian. I like accuracy with as many viewpoints as possible. One of my main interests is in guru`s and spiritual teachers. The truth is, that I have looked at many wiki pages on various guru`s, yet to me they seem often pretty well covered - so much so that I often can not see any changes that can be made much. The only exception is Nisargadatta Maharaj , whose page I have recently seen I could add some info in some places from various sources. But it is still a pretty good, informative page, and most of the other pages on guru`s that I have read seem well balanced - and have read a lot of books on other guru`s.

I am not a devotee of Rajneesh- in fact I am a little critical. But , the truth be known, the page does not really reflect the various areas of his life and biography , or teachings , well at all yet. And appears unbalanced in some places. And there is much more gaps that could be filled in to give a broader picture.

As for having a break, I have actually been doing that for several months- and there is a lot more that could be corrected on this page. For example, I have just noticed recently that someone vandalised/hacked an entire section on `ten commandments` , which I corrected to how it should be. I have already studied the page on sources that can be used on wikipedia and the rules. I have not learned the code yet, but I did not expect to be making that many edits- I have also heard before about new editors that get put off from various intimidating admins. In this case I was already having a rest from editing the wiki- just watching it. Recently , another editor Kkollaps, removed part of the heading, to make it look as if Osho was a critic of Indian socialism. Before the heading stated that he was arguing that India should wait for capitalism to evolve before entering into socialism, communism and anarchism. Now, I like accuracy. Rajneesh Osho criticed all political systems in his lifetime, the header should not make it appear as if he only criticised socialism. I have read some of those early talks and he actually said that he is a socialist yet he believed that India should wait for capitalism to develop. He did talk in favour of capitalism at some points but also very much against, and that has not been represented here at all yet. If you read a lot of his talks you will get the impression he believed in a evolutionary system- he began and ended in that way- yet he was scathing towards politians and governments in general. His own vision for the future has not at all been presented on the page yet. Which by the way is not anything to do with my own political views. Yet I believe that Rajneesh`s own views should be represented properly on his page. I agree with Kkollaps that what I had written on the heading was too long, from sourced material that you actually reverted yesrterday , but it can be condensed into a much smaller sentence which would reflect Rajneesh better. As it happens I actually do want to take a break from this soon anyway yet I could contribute a little more in a few places before then. Jewelthief5000 (talk) 17:10, 17 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
