I see that you added the Georgian language spelling of Giorgi Latsabidze's name on the page that I am working on, and that is both useful and appreciated. It happens that there are some reference sources that I would like to use that were originally written in Georgian, and I would be interested in understanding how the Georgian alphabet can be typed into Wikipedia files and into other files such as Word documents. (Some of these sources are available to me only in xerox copies or image documents.) I have worked with other Latin alphabet foreign languages before, but never with other alphabet languages such as Russian or Georgian, and see that the capability would be useful. Could you tell me what are the best ways you have found to access such a capability? Thank you, Music43lover (talk) 17:37, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
Hi, Please go to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgian_alphabet. What I did is I went to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paata_Burchuladze, opened: "edit this page" then copied (Georgian: პაატა ბურჭულაძე) renamed the name to გიორგი ლაცაბიძე and saved. It works! Barbara
Alberto Nose
[edit]Why did you (wrongly) add tags to Alberto Nosè's article? It was obvious that Alberto Nosè's article was referenced (there're 6 different independent external sources) and that the tone of the article was not promotional. Can't help think it's because I (correctly) did add similar tags to Giorgi Latsabidze's article. I mean, before that edit you only had edited Giorgi Latsabidze... interesting, don't you think?--Karljoos (talk) 10:48, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
Hi Karljoos, I think there are still few more external sources to use. You have listed only one in Aleberto Nose's article. I know Alberto Nose in person, and know about him quite a few things. I think you offended me by saying that I only edited Giorgi Latsbaidze's Article because I have started editing Lazar Berman's, Yundi Li's and still plan to continue. I am originally from Japan, I am a pianist too. I studied with Mr. Berman and Arie Vardi, teacher of Yundi Li in Hannover. I was quite successful but not like Yundi Li. I know Giorgi too since he got his degree in Hannover and additional to that I went to his concert in Berlin and I will not forget that. Finally, Wikipedia is a new think for me (i just started) and I know no one is perfect here. Please excuse me if I did something wrong, however, I would like to ask you to be more polite. I see you got a doctoral degree in violin? Congratulations!!!-- Jeunesbarbara (talk) 16:17, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
- I count six external sources and one external link. How's this article not sourced?????? --Karljoos (talk) 23:58, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
- It's cool, you can use the templates "refimprove" or "cn"(looks like this [citation needed]) for an article that has references but needs more. Rich Farmbrough, 02:06, 7 September 2009 (UTC).
Hi Jeunesbarbara
[edit]I am glad to see that you are not my sock puppet, as is accused by the all-knowing Karljoos. If you haven't already done so, look at my correspondence on his talk page, my talk page, and on the Latsabidze article talk page. His behavior appears unjustified by the facts, and if continued may indeed need to be reported to Wikipedia administrators, but I am still trying to maintain a professional approach. I was motivated to write the article on Latsabidze largely by my witnessing of several of his performances in LA, where I live. They were truly unforgettable. In younger days, I attended concerts in NY and here by such luminaries as Horowitz, Rubinstein, and most recently Pogorelich. I attend piano recitals constantly, along with much other chamber music, as I am on the board of directors of a local Chamber Music Society, and on its music committee. I have never in my life seen such excitement and passion generated in a piano recital as at those of Latsabidze. He is truly a phenomenon that deserves as much recognition as he gets. (By the way, I looked at your edit to the Alberto Nose article, and it seemed to me that, at the time that you criticized it for lack of referencing, it indeed had almost no independent verifiable references. Several of those currently present were added by Karljoos after your comment.) Music43lover (talk) 02:24, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
- I did add some after, but there were enough independent sources (click here to see the article as it was before Jeunesbarbara added the tags) and it was certainly not written like an advertisement at the time it was tagged as unreferenced and promotional(!). By the way, I don't doubt the talent of Latsabidze, but the way the article is trying to establish its notability is wrong and that will have to change. I just got tired of dealing with this article and I have asked expert opinion regarding its tone and format. Thank you--Karljoos (talk) 02:57, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
Hi Music43lover, Well I must say how sorry I am for the fact thatKarljoos has accused you in sock puppetry. Actually I don't know both of you guys but it seems like you have a quite drama going on here huh? Well, sorry again. As I mentioned before I am from Japan originally and have studied in Hannover. (please look at my correspondence page(talk page)with Karljoos. I explained him by saying that I was in the same year and in the same institution when young Yundi Li and Giorgi Latsabidze studied in Hochschule of Hannover. I am a pianist and have accomplished whatever I could, but was always amazed by a very special talents. You don't need to explain me how talented is Latsabidze. Actually I don't think he remembers me but we hang out together couple of times in Berlin. Anyways, please let me know if you need any help. Oh, almost forgot! Guys: Karljoos and Music43lover - please be more understandable to each other and strive to achieve a success in cooperation rather then being aggressive and disruptive. Sincerely --Jeunesbarbara (talk) 04:17, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
Hi again Music43lover, I revised some articles of some of prominent musicians including pianists. Well, I must say that I didn't found anywhere in the article saying about a participation in festivals or masterclasses. I would say this is too detailed. Please look at Yundi Lee's Page or Evgeny Kissin I think their article look very much solid. You will relize that they don't have any masterclasses, festivals and even performances listed in the artcile. I think your Biography is great. I would not touch Awards and Bio except rename a few words like: leading, exceptional, great teachers..(in Lazar Berman was a great teacher, as far as I knew him) you know what I mean. As far as Excerpts from Performance Reviews is concern: They need to be more laconic, to be compressed. I would just leave few but not so many. Please let me know if you need any help. The pictures by the way look great. Great work! Very best -- Jeunesbarbara (talk) 16:27, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
- Hi again Jeunesbarbara. How do you like the new version of the Latsabidze article? I worked hard to try to address the suggestions made by you and others, and added more references, etc. There is still more to do, but it's getting there, I hope. I don't know about some of the external links that have been added at the bottom. Some of them don't seem to work too well when I try them, and they may be considered too promotional in some cases. The one you added was a lot of fun to watch, but I couldn't understand a word, of course. Do you speak Georgian? If it is ok to add external sites like these, there are dozens of great ones, such as one recorded by USC when he got the Carol Hogel award, an excerpt from the DVD about him made in Salzburg (in German), the trailer for the DVD produced with his recital last year at USC, and many others. There are some YouTube videos with him performing some of his original piano compositions in recitals in Georgia. He has dozens of other recital performance recordings on YouTube, but the audio and video for most of them are generally awful. Anyway, thanks for your continued interest. The others seem to have lost interest, at least for the moment. Music43lover (talk) 03:28, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
I have tried the link to the podcast by Erika Funke many times to listen to the interview and it never plays for me. Does it work for you? What might I be doing wrong? I push the download button and then the play button, and it says "ready" but never plays. Music43lover (talk) 14:48, 20 September 2009 (UTC)
Hi Music43lover! Sorry for being late. I was out of town. The article looks terrific! Great job! All the best!--Jeunesbarbara (talk) 03:37, 19 October 2009 (UTC)03:36, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
