Proposed deletion of Loopthing
[edit]A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Loopthing, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:
- Non-notable website.
All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Notability query
[edit]{{helpme}} I would like to know what makes a website notable in your opinion. For me Loopthing is quite a new thing on the market where there's a need for businesses to network and Loopthing provides just that.
- help coming soon Trafford09 (talk) 18:19, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
- OK, first shall we both read WP:notability? I've moved your helpme down into its own section, at the bottom of your talk, as that's where helpers expect to find it. Please place further qns. here, & we'll monitor your page. Thanks for now, Trafford09 (talk) 18:24, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
- See also WP:WEB, to be more specific. But the link that Trafford just gave you is also applicable in the general sense. Killiondude (talk) 18:25, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
{{helpme}} Thanks for feedback. I've added some more content based on different sources and I believe the site has more content to be accepted based on the recent readings on how to use Wikipedia.
- Help on way. Trafford09 (talk) 11:38, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
- OK - I'll browse it for you now. By the way, please remember to WP:sign your comments and questions - cheers, then it adds this bit:
Trafford09 (talk) 11:41, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
- Jeromakay: Just for the time being, in the hope of buying a bit more time, I've commented out the "About to be deleted"-ish bit, and instead said Under Construction. Back soon with further comments. Trafford09 (talk) 12:02, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Notability for Loopthing
[edit]Me again. I've been checking out further Wikipedia policies, but I can't find much to help you. I fear the article may well get deleted, and this would be what the deleters would argue, I'm sorry to have to tell you:
- Mainly, the article falls down on Notability.
- The article lacks a 'Reliable Source', to verify that it is sufficiently 'WP:notable' to be in the encyclopaedia.
- There are references to several blog sites. These are taboo on Wikipedia, especially if the blog author is related to the article (please see 'Conflict of Interest' quidelines).
- Without the blog references, the quotes that are taken from the blogs would also be inadmissible.
- The yahoo reference appears written by Joseph Kelly, a Loopthing employee.
- A quick google search doesn't show up anything that could be used as a Reliable Source.
The only procedure that may delay speedy deletion is if an editor instead puts it forward for discussion by other editors, under the 'Articles for deletion' procedure. This may well still end up with the article being deleted, although in a tidier and more-dignified manner.
I'll leave you to digest the info. in the above links. If you have any questions re the above, you may wish to raise them with me, either here or on my talk page. I'd be happy to respond to any questions in either place.
Sorry this isn't the news you wanted to hear, Trafford09 (talk) 13:15, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Articles for deletion nomination of Loopthing
[edit]I have nominated Loopthing, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Loopthing. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.
Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Chzz ► 23:37, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
{{helpme}} Well, I guess more sources should show up, and I'll reogranise/repost this page, for now I'm OK with having the page removed.
- Looks like you don't need any help at this stage, but you can continue editing your article even when it's being discussed for deletion. Even if deleted I can provide you with a copy to continue your work, to improve it for re-submission. --Stephen 10:04, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Loopthing
[edit]A tag has been placed on Loopthing requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.) or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. andy (talk) 12:13, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
