The article Jermel Wilson has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Wiki guides
[edit]Editor:Jermel23. In an effort to improve the initial experiences of a new editor such as yourself, the Wikipedia Foundation has begun the Wiki Guide program. If there is anything I can do to smooth over some of the rough spots you may experience (such as the above) don't hesitate to ask. As User:The Blade of the Northern Lights points out above, in order for the article to remain in livespace you will have to provide at least one reference. Check out the pages that The Blade refers you to. Finding a reference should be a relatively easy task. I am going to leave the same welcome that I would have if your userpage had been blank (which is usually the case for a Wiki Guide). I am also going to do a little editing at your article as an example of what is necessary. My hope is that you will stay and move beyond these little pebbles in your path. Good editing. [edit]Hello, Jermel23. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.
All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.
If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:
- Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
- Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
- Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
- Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.
Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.
For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. (✉→BWilkins←✎) 21:27, 5 July 2012 (UTC)
