Dove Project

[edit]

Jennylen - Yesterday I saw you mentioned in the articles talk page that sources were on its way and suggested you mention that in the AFD debate - the link to that was within the AFD tag. That would have at least delayed the deletion. I've never felt it necessary to recover anything before but at the top of the page of the AFD debate is a mechanism for deletion review which I suppose is the best way to go. I would suggest you leave the deletion as is until you have the references in hand and then make your case.Peter Rehse 08:24, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I went today to add citation resources to that article and found it deleted, I am sorry. I could have done it yesterday but didn't (my fault). What Peter is telling you about waiting is good counsel. I tell you what, I will try to find time to present the same article but with the citation resources I have and I will let you know so you put up your material. Don't get discouraged, I saw other contributions from you and you seem to be getting "wikiwise". Regards Librarian2 10:39, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Certainly! There is a nice essay at WP:TROLL. I am happy to hear from you, I should have mentioned more strongly before that if I can be of any further assistance, please don't hesitate to ask. Cheers, --Fire Star 火星 14:40, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Done

[edit]

There are several options for such a request, from striking through the comments (which indicates a change of mind by the writer) to archiving (but there really isn't enough content yet to archive) to simple removal. The last seems best. Have a good weekend! --Fire Star 火星 20:35, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Userboxes

[edit]

About the userbox thing, I am good at modifying them, but I haven't created any myself. Indeed, about a year ago there was a debate as to whether we were going to use them at all.

You may use just about any picture in any userbox. I'll show you how I modified one just yesterday to feature a teacher in my direct lineage (not that I have any problem with Sun Lu-t'ang, actually Sun and Wu Chien-ch'uan, my senior teacher's grandfather, were good friends and colleagues).

The original:

File:Santishi sunlutang.jpgThis user is a practitioner of the Chinese internal martial arts.

In the edit page text ,

I took out the text and put in:

which gives me:

or

File:Wu Jianquan.jpgThis user is a practitioner of the Chinese internal martial arts.

The |50px| in the text line determines the actual size of the image in the userbox.

Wikipedia:Picture tutorial will give you reliable image info. Generally, you may use almost any image in Wikipedia, and the Wikimedia Commons has even more images that we may use. The class of images we can't use are fair use images that represent copyrighted work that we may only use in a limited way in articles to represent the subjects of those articles. You can see directly on the image page if there is that sort of restriction.

I hope this helps, --Fire Star 火星 03:43, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

KuShinDo

[edit]

Hi, I'm the author for the Kyushindo article. I know you said that the arts are not related, but from the sounds of it I'm wondering if the root of the philosophy is related. All I've been able to come across is that is was an "ancient and defunct philosophy" when Kenshiro Abbe came across it, dunno if you might be able to help me improve my article a bit if you know of some common roots? Corky1979 18:19, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jenny, sounds like your research into KuShinDo is going better than mine into Kyushindo - I've found some stuff on the net, but it's all in Japanese, and my Japanese language skills are non-existent! Having just started a new job though, I'm struggling with time for research! It would be useful to see some of your sources though to see if they can lead me anywhere. I will of course keep you posted on anything I find. Have you found any good places to look for sources out of interest? Corky1979 16:06, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cite sources

[edit]

Hi Jennylen, I'm (as usual) not sure if you're looking for something like this: refimprove [1], which is a template that you can put on a page that needs sources. It's not medicine specific. Are you thinking of a banner to put on talk pages, a banner for pages themselves, tags for specific sentences, or something else? Antelan talk 21:38, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I've created a template in the True Origins vein; you can see it here; let me know if this is what you were thinking, or how it can be improved. Antelan talk 22:11, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

protect

[edit]

I'll comment on the page about the article, but give her time to reply. The best thing is in fact generally to wait a day or so before doing anything at all. Meanwhile read WP:PROTECT, section 1.1. DGG (talk) 16:14, 20 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

UNOmbud

[edit]

Since I see by chance that you are interested, here is the text of the deleted article: UNOmbud, an organization of international scope based in Sweden is integrated by professionals specialized in the areas of law of diverse countries, international law, diplomacy and economy. It was created for the legal representation of the UNNET and all its integrated organizations, commissions and agencies at all local, regional, national and international agreements, treaties and conventions as well as in any legal matters involving these organizations or their staff in any country of the world. UNOmbud is also appointed in its charter as legal custodian and administrator of legal documentation, agreements and awards programmes that UNNET or any of its member organizations execute within their mandate and capacities. WP:TORIG is now WP:TIMETRACE (also WP:TIMET)

[edit]

WikiProject True Origins WP:TORIG is now WikiProject Timeline Tracer WP:TIMETRACE also WP:TIMET. This follows many opinions that the previous name of the project could confuse or provide negative feelings in some users. Daoken 02:08, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I hope you're still interested in improving Psychic surgery, I've suggested to Perfectblue that you would be a good collaborator on it.[2] She tried some simple structural changes, which didn't seem to go over well... I'm happy to stay involved and try to keep the peace. Dreadstar 08:37, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry about the late reply, I was not around. I go to the article to see that JennyLen 11:57, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jennylen,

I noticed martial arts as part of your listed expertise on WP:TIMET. I'll post Disputed origins of Asian martial arts there soon, but thought I could invite you to help work on this article a bit first.

This article began life as a POV-fork for some nationalistic claims that all asian martial arts originated in India. After a long process, some neutrality was restored in diversifying influences and clarifying sources. Unfortunately, it's now taken another POV-fork in denying any foreign influence on asian martial arts.

I'll try to work on removing OR and POV statements / tracking down sources. The article, as it stands, however, needs a lot of work.

Electrical devices in alternative medicine

[edit]

Hi Jenny,

Just started a preliminary literature on the article, and I'm having a hard time justifying its existence. I think it is relevant to have the individual articles on E-meters, Albert Abrams, etc, regardless of whether I agree with their treatments or not. However, there is no unifying thread within the article other than they all use electricity. (In fact, the theoretical basis for all of the therapies listed are drastically different.) As such, the article seems like a very artifical conglomerate to me, what do you think?

Regards,

Djma12 (talk) 17:36, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My vote would be to absorb it into electrotherapy. Wiki has enough orphaned articles as is... Djma12 (talk) 17:51, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Quackwatch

[edit]

If you want this unprotected, please request this at request for protection. I don't see any grounds for a speedy deletion here. It's a messy POV battleground, but not a speedy candidate... at least in my opinion. Thanks.--Isotope23 talk 00:31, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just an FYI, someone just did put in a request and it was rejected. If you want to open an AFD discussion on this I would be willing to tag the article since it is protected, but there simply isn't grounds for a speedy delete here.--Isotope23 talk 13:22, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If you create an AFD nomination here (directions for AFD are at WP:AFD if you've never done one) and let me know when the nomination is complete, I will add a tag to Quackwatch for you. Thanks!--Isotope23 talk 13:57, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I added a tag to the article & listed the afd at the log here. I protected the article because there are 2 opposing "camps" of editors fighting over this topic. Even assuming good faith I expect at least one individual to possibly go on the attack against this AFD in a big way. I don't have an opinion one way or another on this topic, but just a fair warning; be prepared because the ride may get a bit bumpy. --Isotope23 talk 14:39, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Request for information

[edit]
I just wanted to ask you if it is possible that another user can get my email address and sned messages. Yes anyone w/ an account can email you as you have your email configured.
the trace carried me to an arbitration involving one of the users defending that page in which you declare that he has done this kind of things. Having a look at the AfD, i don't really think so and i'd advice you to have a look at WP:DENY or blocking their emails if they are harassing you. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 17:07, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
