Hello and welcome to Wikipedia! Hope you like it here, and stick around.

Here are some tips to help you get started:

Good luck!

Forbsey 18:19, 24 December 2005 (UTC)

Hi,

I noticed you were new and had been editing football articles, so I thought I'd give you a few links that it took me a while to find. Hope they're useful.

Hahaha me too! Is there any Dundee United player that an article hasn't been written on?

Forbsey 18:19, 24 December 2005 (UTC)

Scottish football

Hello Forbsey, thanks for your kind welcome before Christmas which I have finally got around to replying to! As you can see I've been busying away on various Scottish football articles in the last couple of months, you can probably guess from those I've worked on that Dundee UNited are my team, although I have been gradually expanding my edits into other areas as well. In the last few days I've been polishing up some of the SPL squad lists a bit, do you think it would be a good idea to try to expand the squad coverage to include the SFL clubs as well? Looking around Wikipedia, I've noticed this kind of information is sparse even for lower league clubs in England. Jellyman 10:32, 15 January 2006 (UTC)

Hey. The SFL clubs cretainly lack detailed information but I don't think we should create squad lists for them, apart from maybe some of the bigger SFL clubs such as St Mirren, Partick, Dundee ect.. as it would be difficult to maintain. Maybe we should look at including more information on the club history's of some of the teams. Also some of the SPL teams' pages are far too short, i.e. Kilmarnock and Dunfermline espeically when you consider that they are among the oldest clubs in Scotland. Good work on the squad lists btw. Forbsey 17:33, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
I'd be interested to know your current thoughts on the Scottish football articles and status - I run/developed the Scottish Football Archive website and it's linked off of here and I use some materials from here but I'd be interested in knowing what other people feel about the work "we" can all do to improve the articles here? I see many people who are interested in Scottish football in the WikiProject Football but would perhaps like to see a specific Scottish football sub project for discussion? Thoughts? Degsydegsy (talk) 13:54, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Hey. Since you are a Dundee United fan I thought you might know some of the missing Dundee United information in the Scottish Clubs in Europe section of this article (dates of matches, or first names of the players). If you know any if you could add it, cheers. Forbsey 19:24, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

Good work, cheers. Forbsey 18:39, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

Dude, that was some totally awesome work you done on the Davie Dodds article today. I only started the article becasue I couldn't believe that there wasn't one already. I'm a total, pure Tim, but even I've gotta say that Davie Dodds deserves his page in Wikipedia more than some of the footballers listed. I actually found it quite difficult to source material on the net about D Dodds. This page is probably the best source of info on D Dodds now. Awesome stuff dude.--TheMadTim 17:16, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

I have made a conditional delete vote, but only if it is subdivided before closure. If you want to make sure this gets done I would suggest that you do it yourself as I doubt that anyone else will. This wouldn't be a breach of the rules about emptying a category as the articles would still be in the category via subcategories. Osomec 15:25, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

United history

What do you think of a small infobox to cover reviews of seasons? I'm thinking of the example at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_A-League#2005-06_Season_Adelaide_United. I've shamelessly ripped it off and made a sample at User:Fedgin/DUFC infobox. Fedgin 09:19, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

Hi. I'm just looking for your opinion on a couple of things if you don't mind. As you may have noticed, I changed the Scottish clubs in Europe section layout this season but looking at it it seems to be a little cramped and difficult to read, I am wondering if you think the table format used previously was a better way of displaying this? What do you think about creating articles on the Scottish League Cup and Scottish Cup for this season? If you like this idea then perhaps you could initiate the layout, as I am not very good with tables etc, and I will fill in the details.

P.S. Fantastic work on the 1966-67 in Scottish football article, top work! Forbsey 02:59, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

Frazer Smith

  • I found this on the original Frazer Smith page and spilt it because of disambiguation. I was dubious about the article myself and have commented so, see talk page. I have being meaning to check its authenticity but have not got round to it. I did not create this article only moved page. If you have found it to be bull then delete it.Djln--Djln 22:05, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

Former Dundee United players

I've been contributing to Dundee United FC former players and could do with your help. A lot of the players have no entry so could do with a stub page; even better, add wherre they are now. Cheers. Fedgin | Talk 12:03, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

I wonder how much further this could be taken back? Perhaps from 1996/97 onwards, i.e. back in the Premier Division. The list is getting quite long (good work!) so it would be good to split it into two (or three) columns; I'm not sure how to do this in a table - a table of tables? - without manually combining rows. Good work on all the errors and players I missed. Fedgin | Talk 22:39, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
Would you be interested in trying to get rid of the red links and help create pages for the remaining players? I've managed to create a few but some other players require a bit of Googling to fill in the blanks in career history. Fedgin | Talk 14:57, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Derbyshire flag.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Derbyshire flag.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Survey Invitation

Hi there, I am a research student from the National University of Singapore and I wish to invite you to do an online survey about Wikipedia. To compensate you for your time, I am offering a reward of USD$10, either to you or as a donation to the Wikimedia Foundation. For more information, please go to the research home page. Thank you. --WikiInquirer 03:18, 17 March 2007 (UTC)talk to me

Hi, seeing you are interested in football this is an invitation to contribute to this discussion to clarify certain issues about football player notability. I think clearer guidelines are needed to avoid repeated inappropriate nominations for deletion and time consuming discussions. Cheers! StephP 20:28, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

Livingston/Meadowbank/Ferranti

I've reopened the above debate - the three are clearly the same team and I can't see how anyone can defend having three different articles when similar clubs such as Leyton Orient who have gone through several incarnations have one article. Valenciano 20:23, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Would you be willing to add your support to the nomination of Derry City F.C. for FA status? Cheers. Danny InvincibleTalk|Edits 13:03, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

Requested Move

See Talk:Derby Friargate Line. This is more a suggestion than a request. I am suggesting a change of name for the Friargate Line article. Besides being the official name of the line, my suggestiion I believe is more descriptive for people outside of the Derby area. I am in the process of writing articles for all the stations along the line and have some input to the article itself. Chevin (talk) 09:14, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Greg Kelly (footballer)

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Greg Kelly (footballer), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Jellyman! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 271 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Reviewer granted

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 05:42, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

Derby suburbs

You seem to have some knowledge/experience with this area as you have edited the template. Could you please assist User:Donegalbundoran as he is attempting to add a suburb area that he has created? I can't tell whether or not it is a good add. --LilHelpa (talk) 00:01, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

Template:Dundee United F.C. squad‎

Hello Jellyman, would care to explain why you unhid Ross Smith as generally players who are out on loan remain hidden. Given the fact he played for Peterhead just a day before your edit see here it would seem he's still out on loan. Regards ★☆ DUCKISJAMMMY☆★ 07:05, 29 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi! It seems you recently created an unreferenced biography of a living person: Frank Quinn (footballer). The community has decided that all new biographies of living persons must contain a reliable source that supports at least one statement made about the person in the article as per our verifiability policy. Please add references as soon as possible. Thanks! --LaraBot (talk) 00:13, 27 February 2013 (UTC)

The article Frank Quinn (footballer) has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. -- Patchy1 REF THIS BLP 03:09, 27 February 2013 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Alan Main, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Jim Stewart (footballer). This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of The Sanctuary (Derby), and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.daytripfinder.co.uk/attractions/the-sanctuary-bird-and-wildlife-reserve.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on The Sanctuary (Derby), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
