Merging a couple of things
Hello
I am here because I don't feel posting it in a talk page would yield any response. Besides, which talk page?
Anyway, I was wondering whether I should merge Hotfix, Program temporary fix and Service pack into Patch (computing). What do you think?
Best regards,

- Seems that it could go on one of their talk pages. Patch (computing) seems to be the more generic page, and the other two are more specific. I suppose they could be separate sections of one page, with links. Gah4 (talk) 07:43, 3 December 2016 (UTC)
- The articles certainly have much in common, though I wonder if "patch" is truly the correct "umbrella" term - it's tough for me to think of a service pack as a type of "patch". Jeh (talk) 10:52, 3 December 2016 (UTC)
- In the olden days, it was easier to send out a small patch, instead of the whole modified file. That isn't so true now, but the idea is still there. But okay, a service pack allows for larger changes, too. Still, with the name service pack it should just be fixing problems, not adding new features. It used to be that programs written in assembler had a patch area, a memory area reserved for later patches to add to, without needing to increase the file size. With compiled code, even a one line change in the source could make a big change in the object program. With the assumption that the source changes are small, it seems to me not so much different. Regarding your message
I was upset, but not entirely on my last disagreement about Fantasy on Men in Black: The Series. It was being called stupid by that user that drove me to tears. I still see the point though. — FilmandTVFan28 (talk) 08:24, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
- Your being called stupid (or any other negative name-calling, for that matter) is a clear violation of WP:CIVIL on the other editor's part. If you want help responding to such in the future, LMK and I will assist. That sort of thing is not how Wikipedia wants to be. Jeh (talk) 08:31, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you. — FilmandTVFan28 (talk) 08:42, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
