Did you edit my user page?
[edit]Did you edit my international travels? My policy is that no one can edit my user page. You have to ask first. --Wikipedian 15:40, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, i did so. I'm sorry for bothering you, but the image was marked as redundant and had to be replaced (to delete it). --jed 16:18, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
- You did not bother me. I just want to have a clean user page. Not that you did anything wrong. Wikipedian 16:41, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
GIF -> SVG
[edit]I've repeatedly explained to you that these SVGs are not accurate reproductions of the GIFs, and that they render improperly for most users. Despite this, you have taken it upon yourself to replace all instances (without discussion or even the use of edit summaries). As you're aware of the fact that you're compromising the integrity of Wikipedia, please explain why I should regard your behavior as anything other than vandalism. —David Levy 10:47, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
- Because the gif is redundant to the svg. Thats why i nominated it for deletion. To be deleted it has to be orphan. Thats why i replaced the gif by svg. As you are the creator of the image i can understand that you are emotional involved, but it is nothing personal. --jed 10:59, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
- I've repeatedly explained to you that the GIFs are not redundant to the SVGs. The SVGs are similar, but they are not 100% accurate reproductions. And again, the SVGs render improperly in IE. You're unilaterally replacing consensus-backed images with files that are broken for most users (and provide absolutely no practical advantages). —David Levy 11:07, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
- The gif image is redundant to the svg and it is preferable to have only one image in a free form, as to have two or more no-free. As far as i can see the consensus is only you, but we will see what the result of the discussion will be. --jed 11:44, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
- Again, the SVG images are NOT the same. They're similar, but there are clear differences.
- And again, the SVG images are broken for most users. In what way would Wikipedia benefit by switching to them?
- The GIF files are in the public domain (and Unisys' LZW patent is long expired), so I don't know what your "free form"/"no-free" argument is supposed to mean. —David Levy 11:55, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
- Just to throw in a comment: currently all svg-images are converted to PNG-images, because not all browsers support svg-images. --Kajk 13:39, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
Ensign
[edit]Greetings: as a matter of interest, why do you feel it necessary to change "white ensign", which is the correct name, to "naval ensign", which produces exactly the same graphic but is not the correct naval term?--Anthony.bradbury 18:06, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
- Hi, because this are two images which are exactly the same. And it ist better to have only one of this. So i changed the links to the widely used Image:Naval Ensign of the United Kingdom.svg (e.g. see Flag of England and Template:UKFlags) and marked Image:RN-White-Ensign.svg as duplicate. But if you think, that the name of the image is wrong we can leave a {{bad name}} note on the commons page of the "naval ensign" and revert the dublicate flag on the "white ensign". --jed 16:27, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
Portal:Tube template
[edit]The current icon is prefered as it matches the background of the template. The icon you asigned to it is to narrow and has a white background. So I reverted it back to the current icon, please do not revert this as you will end up breaking the 3R rule, thanks. Unisouth 16:13, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
- The SVG has a transparent background and the GIF is nominated for deletion. --jed

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference
[edit]Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true
. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false
in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.
For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.
Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:41, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

Please help photographing 'wa'
[edit]Hi Jed! We are searching for someone in Berlin to help us shoot some wa (watercraft) models in Berlin museums. Would you be able to help us? We would like to add them ASAP since we'd like to nominate the page for 'Did you know?' on the front page of English Wikipedia, where your photo would be featured. prat (talk) 20:39, 8 January 2015 (UTC)
- Sorry, I am not currently in Berlin. --jed (talk) 05:11, 9 January 2015 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
