feedback on topic
Hi Jduden - I like your topic. The articles you have suggested for editing look big to me, but on point in terms of topic. I can imagine your incorporation of the data on social media usage, as well as literature we'll hopefully find regarding the differential uses of internet in South America. Perhaps something could end up here: internet and political revoultions. Let's keep looking as we go. It may be notable enough to be a new article.Prof.Vandegrift (talk) 20:05, 6 February 2013 (UTC)
Feedback
Hello! I found these pages that talks about public broadcasting in all different areas and I thought it may be helpful for you!
This last page even mentions information with Politics and Arab Spring I think it would be good to have a thesis statement because you have a lot of good ideas but it may be hard to connect them without having a specific direction if that makes sense.
Hope this helps! Melholle (talk) 05:43, 22 February 2013 (UTC)
Your recent edits
Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button or located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when they said it. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 02:22, 13 February 2013 (UTC)
Try to redo?
Hi Jduden! Could you try to put a signature in your post on my talk page? Thanks - we're all working to get the hang of this. Cheers!Prof.Vandegrift (talk) 20:32, 18 February 2013 (UTC)

Hi Jduden. Welcome to Wikipedia! I'm an online ambassador for your Global Youth Studies course at Drake. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, chat with us on IRC, or ask your question on this page and then place {{helpme}}

I think that comparing the impact of social media in South America to that of the Arab Spring sounds interesting but I don't think that Wikipedia will allow a stand-alone article for it (see WP:NOTCASE, #9). The Arab Spring article addresses the effect of social media here. It may be possible to explore one or both of those topics on an article such as media activism. I'd advise against editing the Internet article though. As a core topic and one of the most viewed pages on Wikipedia, edits to that page are held to a much higher standard. Classmate Feedback
I think your topic makes a lot of sense based upon your interests and your work with Prof.Vandegrift. If you are hoping to edit some existing articles to include a non-Western perspective, you may consider seeking out non-English resources. I am assuming that you have a little Spanish background based upon your work in Venezuela. It may be possible that Spanish language resources will lend a non-Western context to your work. Good luck; I look forward to the result!KLi 32 (talk) 03:21, 23 February 2013 (UTC)
Hi!
Hey Josh! How are you? I love your topic on social media and its political impact, it's so intriguing! I wouldn't generalize too much on social media, I would narrow your scope, for instance Facebook or Twitter instead of both, they are big topics. See you in class! 3.7 feedback on 3 paragraph proposal: next steps
Hi Jduden! You have a great topic in search of an article. Please take Gobonobo's advice to avoid the internet article and his/her advice to work towards an article that is notable. I wonder if the best idea might be to settle down with Media activism. I thought you began with some good ideas in your edits on media activism#limitations. However, I want you to think about issues of bias and also specificity. Is "limitations" the best term to choose? What do North Korea, China, and Venezuela have in common that would be a better header for this section? Also, can we say that media activists meet no surveillance in the U.S. (ask me to tell you about my experience on Twitter during the Occupy movement Des Moines a couple of years ago...)? I think you can insert FABULOUS sections on Venezuela and the Arab Spring into this article - this might be your research home for the class project.
As you revise your three paragraph proposal into a more substantive form, it's time also to clean up your user page and archive some of the messages on your talk page. This will make it easier to work with as we go. Thanks!Prof.Vandegrift (talk) 21:33, 7 March 2013 (UTC)

Hello all! This is just a notification that all old posts have been archived at User talk:Jduden/Archive 1. Thanks for your feedback! Jduden (talk) 01:14, 14 March 2013 (UTC)Jduden
- You apparently archived the page by copying the displayed text, not the wikicode that generated it. That broke the archive's formatting, for example the section headings. I fixed it with this edit. Huon (talk) 03:01, 14 March 2013 (UTC)
Feedback on 3.27 sources
Hi Jduden. First, off topic, I am jealous of your awesome pink box with archive at the top of your talk page. I will have to ask you to show me how you did that! Anyway...
- I'm very pleased with your sources you have proposed. There is one that looks to be U.S. based under the Venezuela section (on FB in 2008), but other than that, I think you have some winners to put in. You also make a cogent argument as to why these need to be included.
- Now it's time to figure out an outline - where can you make a contribution? Think in terms of what you would add to the opening paragraph on social media, as well as expanding on social media and activism generally. This is a very timely topic that deserves developing on Wikipedia. I look forward to your contribution!
Cheers, Prof.Vandegrift (talk) 03:43, 2 April 2013 (UTC)
A cup of coffee for you!
Great sources - keep working towards an outline of your article revisions. You're ready! Prof.Vandegrift (talk) 03:44, 2 April 2013 (UTC) |
