Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Jdjr34, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Ian and I work with Wiki Education; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. Atmosphere of Triton

[edit]

Hello, I'm BlackcurrantTea. Thank you for expanding the article on Triton's atmosphere. When you edited it, you introduced a few errors, but don't worry - that's not at all unusual for new editors, and they're easy to fix. Wikipedia, like many organisations, has what's called a Manual of Style or MOS. It's a guideline, and a helpful resource for questions on writing and formatting. Here are some things you can do to improve the article:

  • Something went wrong with the last reference you added, 'ShieldSquare Captcha'. That's probably not the actual title, and the doi has an error message.
  • Section headings should be in sentence case unless there's a good reason, as when a section heading is the title of a book. For example, Later observations rather than Later Observations.
  • Names of specific vessels, including some spacecraft, are capitalised and italicised: Voyager 2, e.g.
  • Generally, a link to another article should only appear once. The article isn't unusually long, and Triton is easy for readers to understand and remember (unlike, say, an obscure scientific or mathematical concept), so the name shouldn't be linked after the opening paragraph.
  • Common nouns aren't capitalised, so rather than 'plumes erupting through the Nitrogen ice', it should be 'plumes erupting through the nitrogen ice'.

I hope you enjoy editing Wikipedia, and will continue to edit after your class is over. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me here, or for a quicker answer, visit the Teahouse, the help forum for new editors. Happy editing! BlackcurrantTea (talk) 11:56, 15 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
