Speedy deletion nomination of Etfoo

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Etfoo requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. License tagging for File:Screen shot 2011-04-01 at 11.17.31 AM.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Screen shot 2011-04-01 at 11.17.31 AM.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 19:05, 5 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Screen shot 2011-04-01 at 11.18.09 AM.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Screen shot 2011-04-01 at 11.18.09 AM.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 21:09, 7 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

ERPLAB article

[edit]

Hello Jcho91,

Please review the comments left by another user at Talk:ERPLAB. It is important that we be able to edit the article to address these colleagues, rather than repeatedly undoing other editors' revisions. I am also an ERP researcher and would be happy to help you develop this article, but it is necessary to do so in a way that meets Wikipedia's content guidelines.

I am a little busy for the next few days but I will try to give you some more information about the content guidelines and specific suggestions for improving the article when I have time.

Best, rʨanaɢ (talk) 22:15, 7 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
Thank you for your help with the wikipedia page ERPLAB. This is my first wikipedia page and apologize for any actions that are against wikipedia's guidelines. I am a part of the Luck Lab and was asked to create this page in order to give researchers a brief history of what our software is capable of. We also wanted to give some instructions on how to easily download the software (hence the links I tried uploading).
We also wanted to give thanks to members in our lab and researchers who have helped in the development of the software. However, under wikipedias guidelines, I have learned that this may not be possible. Is there any way that we can show our gratitude towards these members, possibly in a history section?

Wikipedia is only meant to be an encyclopedia, not to promote or disseminate software, and in particular showing gratitude is not really the purpose of Wikipedia. All of those things, particularly instructing potential users about how to obtain the software and thanking the contributors, would be better accomplished at your own site (you could easily do something like the EEGLAB wiki). Such a site could always be linked from the Wikipedia article, but all the Wikipedia article can really do is report dry facts (what ERPLAB is, and a few references to demonstrate why it fits Wikipedia's inclusion criteria). rʨanaɢ (talk) 22:44, 7 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Screen shot 2011-04-01 at 11.17.31 AM.png

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Screen shot 2011-04-01 at 11.17.31 AM.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.
