Copyright problem: Venerable Stylianus
[edit]Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Venerable Stylianus, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. This article appears to be a copy from http://www.oca.org/FSlives.asp?SID=4&M=11&D=26, and therefore a copyright violation. The copyrighted text has been or will soon be deleted.
If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:
- If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details at Talk:Venerable Stylianus and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
- If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Venerable Stylianus with a link to where we can find that note.
- If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:Venerable Stylianus.
It is also important that the text be modified to have an encyclopedic tone and that it follows Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
If you would like to begin working on a new version of the article you may do so at Talk:Venerable Stylianus/Temp. Leave a note at Talk:Venerable Stylianus saying you have done so and an administrator will move the new article into place once the issue is resolved. Thank you, and please feel welcome to continue contributing to Wikipedia. Happy editing! Od Mishehu 09:50, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- I am not clear how there was a possible copyright infringement on the Venerable Stylianus page as all work is cited. Can someone clarify this please? Thanks. Jc3schmi (talk) 22:44, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- Copyright infringement has nothing to do with citing sources. It does have to do with copying sources - you may not copy work from elsewhere to Wikipedia. Od Mishehu 07:06, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
- Hello Od Mishehu, thanks for getting back to me. As to the article, I didn't copy anything. I summarised in my own words information I found and cited it as one would a university term paper. Please can you lift the 'possible copyright infringement' as I have not transgressed the regulations. Thank you for your time.
- Jc3schmi (talk) 18:20, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
- The proper way to cite sources isn't to quote them - it's to link to them. See WP:CITE. You can still access your version of the page - just follow this link. Od Mishehu 06:27, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

Dusty Miller
[edit]Do you have any more sources for Dusty Miller? I'm looking for his full name and his military rank/service in order to expand. The current sources don't seem verifiable? Kernel Saunters (talk) 17:23, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for December 24
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Gonçalo de Amarante, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Dominican (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Speedy deletion nomination of Jesse of Georgia
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Jesse of Georgia requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. DrStrauss talk 12:04, 20 August 2017 (UTC)
