My Page!!

[edit]

I have seen many users create their own wiki pages. So i decided to as well.

Don't worry about it. I moved it into the user namespace. I just forgot to nominate the redirect for deletion. Oops. Your article will continue to exist at User:Jbill007 but the Jamar Billups redirect page will probably be deleted. ~a (usertalkcontribs) 07:23, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Greatest Britons

[edit]

Please could you rethink your placing mentions of this poll prominently in the page for everyone who got in the top hundred. Take Alfred the Great, for example. He is one of the greatest English kings, and it would take a whole book to describe his achievements. Yet in the six sentence intro to his article, one sentence is devoted to his placing in the Greatest Britons poll, which I would characterise as unimportant, transient and trivial. If his placing in the poll deserves any mention in the article at all, of which I am doubtful, I think it would be more reasonable to shove it somewhere in the body of the article, perhaps in a sentence about his legacy. The same goes for Victoria, Elizabeth II, etc--Triglyph2 23:44, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Adoption

[edit]

I see that you're a very frequent contributor to the Wiki, good work! Would like to be adopted? --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 02:12, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

All righty then! Ready for your first assignment? --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 19:28, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Umm, are you still there? --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 19:36, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Adoption

[edit]

Hi, Jbill007. It's been a while since we last talked, and I have to say that I'm a bit disappointed that you haven't contacted me in any way recently. Also, you haven't completed any of your assignments, so please get to work. If you would like to continue the adoption, please tell me on my talk page within 1 week. If there are any issues in real life that are stopping you from editing, I'll understand, but please tell me. I'll be awaiting your reply (and sorry if this message sounded like I was angry, I'm not). :) *Cremepuff222* 00:43, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Time

[edit]

I am sorry that I have not gotten in touch with you, but I have been really busy. You can go on without adopting me, because I won't have the time to fullfill any assignments. Thanks for thinking of me. *Jbill007* , 27 May 2007 (UTC)

Maya Angelou, Roots

[edit]

Jamal, I saw that you deleted Dr. Angelou's Emmy nomination for Roots. From your talk page, you have some expertise about Roots, so I will bow to your knowledge. However, could you please share your rationale for deleting the info, especially since I provided a source? If you don't think the source is valid, cool, but it's always a good idea, when making this kind of edit, to justify it on the discussion page.

Thanks for the image of Dr. Angelou, though. The previous image was out of date and not at all flattering. Your contribution is much, much better. Keep up the good work! --Figureskatingfan (talk) 06:05, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for answering so quickly over on my talk page. I did what you suggested and what I found was interesting--I googled Roots' awards and found all kinds of references to Dr. Angelou winning the Emmy nomination, but they don't live up to WP's standards about citing sources. Her own webpage says that she was nominated, as did the source I cited (Cliffs Notes). However, IMBD doesn't list her, and there are no lists of past winners and nominations on the Emmy site.

If you look at Dr. Angelou's talk page, you'll see that there was a big controversy about accepting Dr. Angelou's own webpage as a reliable source for her articles. The decision was made to accept it. Therefore, I think that this info should be returned.--Figureskatingfan (talk) 06:46, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
