[edit]Hello, I'm Mendaliv. I wanted to let you know that your signature ("sig") might cause problems for some readers. This is because it includes a link outside your user-space; or no link at all. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines and policy on customising signatures. Thank you. —/Mendaliv/2¢/Δ's/ 11:52, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
Hello Mendaliv. Thanks very much! I am aware of this; when I sign with the four tildes ( ~~~~ ), the program only puts in my usename Jbeaton5 without the username being hyperlinked. To temporarily correct this I copied the code {{u|Jbeaton5}}. I do have programming skills (albeit old ones) but could not figure out the problem. I am new as a user. Could you please tell me where to go for help; very much appreciated. --Jbeaton5 07:15, 23 January 2016 (UTC)
- Not a problem. I'm thinking what you've got happening is, if you look in your Preferences for Wikipedia, under the "User Profile" tab, you have "Treat the above as wiki markup." checked, but no links in the signature. If you want the default signature, you want to replace what's in the signature box with
--[[User:Jbeaton5|Jbeaton5]] ([[User talk:Jbeaton5|talk]])
. You could also just hit "reset defaults" in your preferences, though that'd get everything else too... unfortunately they don't seem to have a "restore default signature" button. —/Mendaliv/2¢/Δ's/ 10:48, 23 January 2016 (UTC)
- Hello Mendaliv Thank you so much for helping me with this. Everything now works fine. --Jbeaton5 (talk) 13:58, 24 January 2016 (UTC)
