Tim1965 (talk) 23:22, 17 July 2012 (UTC)DYK for Mark R. Showalter
[edit]On 30 July 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Mark R. Showalter, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that American astronomer Mark R. Showalter has discovered five moons and three planetary rings in our solar system? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Mark R. Showalter. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Romulus
[edit]I remember early polling having both Romulus and Vulcan, and they were the two clear leads, but I can't find the site now. Maybe it was updated once Romulus was pulled? — kwami (talk) 01:51, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
- The Feb 12 blog at plutorocks.com seems to indicate that Romulus was rejected from the very beginning because it is already the name of an asteroid's moon. There is no indication of a vote count for Romulus at http://plutorocks.com. Other contemporaneous sites such as this space.com article seem to concur that Romulus never make it onto the ballot. RE: Moon vs. Natural Satellite
[edit]Yeah, I'm aware that a lot of articles use "moon" to refer to other satellites. But.... hmm, I guess I'm just personally uneasy about it. It's a minor pet peeve. But I guess if it's just fine as is, I am sorry for starting an argument over it 134340Goat (talk) 01:20, 29 September 2014 (UTC)
