I appreciate all of the information I have found on this page. I am 32 and have been dealing with this alone since I was 16. I never really discussed it because I was just told that I was bulimic/anorexic. I have no issues with my weight except that I cannot keep it on. The cycles are clear and harsh - every few months (during the winter more often) I spend my days puking and passing out in between - sometimes on the bathroom floor simply because I cannot lift myself off the floor to make it back to bed.
I get severely dehydrated and very low blood sugar; dip in and out of consciousness as well. I have managed to nurse myself out of it for a long time but as of late the attacks are more and more severe and involve massive vomiting spurts with decent amounts of blood, dehydration is getting more and more severe, and my blood sugar has gotten so it drops so dangerously low that I literally fall over - just like the child who is ok then covers her eyes and things spin and then she drops except that I am 32 and not 4 so it is a bit more severe.
To date my internist cannot figure out what is wrong and he is good so I have been shipped off to the GI department and hope I can make it the two weeks to my appointment.
It feels like you are hanging on by a thread that is going to snap at any moment; like your entire abdomen is going to explode out of your body. I have worked through and around this for a long time but the last three attacks were so severe that I was rendered useless for days; to make it worse I don't think I can even recall the time lost.
The more information the better - I am glad that I have found this page and am learning more about this; who knows what tests await me but hopefully before my body self destructs.
