User talk:Jasenlee/Fred Luddy
Hold on guys... please. Don't delete. I'm working on a number of articles about the ITSM space and was putting a placeholder stub in for the moment. If you check my history you can see I've been with Wikipedia since 2003 or so and I don't do advertisements, etc. I have an interest in ITSM an ITIL so I like to write about different companies and people in this space. Again, if you check my history you'll see I've written articles about BMC, HP, FrontRange, etc. I'm just expanding on my work. Sorry if my stub seems short but it's a day at a time. Fred Luddy is a pretty important guy in this space and I want to write a full article about him and his latest company. Please hold off on deletion.
EDIT: If anyone has questions or doubts please send me a message. I get these speedy deletions whenever I write about companies and I get a little rustrated. I completely understand the system and why we all need to do this (*to stop spammers*) but I have a genuine interest in ITSM software and am an ITIL Master so I really like writing about it. Please don't delete my stuff. If you have fair criticism about something I wrote that might seem like boosterism please let me know and I'll adjust.
Thanks,

EDIT 1: I just responded to the reply that Regency42 made and apparently he/she is too bothered to actually respond to any message left on their user talk page. You have to adhere to his/her rules about about rebuttals whether a wiki standard or not. This is what is killing creation in wikipedia. People who have an attitude about editing. I have not spammed and have contributed to this site for years. I'm trying to write an article and yes I started with a stub (how many wiki articles are started) but again this is what is part of what is killing wikipedia. I used to love contributing to this site and have an excellent track record for doing so but people like this are turning this into a "boys club" where you need to immediately have 17 different references and not a single grammar error. Thanks for helping to ruin something that was once really cool. If you are reading this Regency42 I hope you take my thoughts into consideration. I'm not trying to be a dick but again look at my history. I like to write about Chicago and I like to write about ITSM. Fred Luddy helped invent the space so I thought I'd start a stub. I don't appreciate your accusations.
EDIT 2: Your words... on my user page:
"For spamming, I'm referring to: Using your userpage to host promotional content which you know will be speedied under db-corp or db-advert."
My question to you is this. Where should I put edits in progress before they are published to the "normal" wiki? I use my user page as a place to work on things before I put it out to the community? I'd rather do that than publish a ton of crap first. I like to polish it up on my private page and then put it in the article. I've done this for years and you are the first to get all spun up about it.
And BTW, I don't consider it a bunch of promotional content. I'm starting an article on my user page which I intend on improving before publishing to the greater community which is missing a lot. I guess talking about the languages a software package and the location of the company is offensive to you even though I've used the the standard Company Infobox as my starting point.
If I sound pissed off it's because I am. Let it go. I'm not trying to hurt the community. I never have. I'm just writing about ITSM software.

Anyone else reading this: You may have missed a lot of dialog. Regency42 prefers to make bold and insulting statements in public and then send private messages to communicate his/her thoughts. I would appreciate an open dialog and if anyone has questions please let me know. I've halted all edits until the community decides. I may be wrong in the eyes of the community and I'm willing to accept that if I am. It's not a life or death thing (obviously) but stuff like this is getting so out of control caring contributors don't even want to participate anymore.

- I don't have time to respond to every point in that rant, but in short: these is not "my rules". The policies of WP:PERSON, WP:CORP, WP:SPAM and the speedy deletion criteria was developed through community consensus. No-one expects you to create a 'perfect' article, but there is a criteria for inclusion for every new article. If it doesn't credibly assert notability, then it will be tagged and deleted as such. Edits in progress should be userfied, not on the userpage. In light of the fact that the articles were already deleted via Afd, you really shouldn't be recreating it at all. -Regancy42 (talk) 01:47, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
