Replaceable fair use File:CarmenSuleiman.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:CarmenSuleiman.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 06:32, 3 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Ghalia Benali.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Ghalia Benali.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 06:33, 3 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

And...gone

[edit]

Look, all of those images you uploaded--now deleted. All of the article changes? Reverted. Was that worth your time? Seriously, what a waste. Either you simply don't understand copyright, or you refuse to follow our rules; as such, every time you come back, you'll be spotted and reverted. Just stop it. Or, heck, pick one of these accounts and ask for some help and maybe you could be a productive editor here. Qwyrxian (talk) 23:12, 6 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I feel that I am being personally targeted, i'm trying to be a productive editor and i've made nothing but productive contributions since i've created this current account. I have made many mistakes with my past two accounts, which I truly apologize for and inconveniences and frustrations, but I took advice given to me and I haven't been involved in any edit wars, I haven't presented any biased or racist or untrue information, and i've uploaded many new files in which I feel benefit wikipedia as a whole all except for two, in which there were copyright misunderstandings. I have forwarded permission of those files from their copyright holders respectively and they had all been accepted by the wikipedia team. Still, despite my current efforts User:Qwyrxian saw it necessary to delete files which took me much persuasion to get permission for, and insists that I need to follow the rules, which I am trying to do to the best of my ability. I fully understand his concern with my past edits, but I am trying hard to be a constructive member of wikipedia, and I would be extremely grateful if a few would help me in correcting my errors and showing me the correct way. I would like his help as well as other wikipedia admins with this endevor. Thank You.

Decline reason:

If you feel like you are being personally targeted, it is because you are being personally targeted. That is what happens when you continue to create new accounts to evade active sanctions on your main account. You continue to have difficulty understanding and abiding by Wikipedia copyright policy (a fact which led to your original blocks) and that actually damages Wikipedia regardless of your intent. My best suggestion is to consider the standard offer. Wait six months without creating new accounts, take the time to review and understand the policies that have been explained to you, and then request an unblock from your original account. I would also strongly suggest that you include a request for mentorship if you do pursue the standard offer option. Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 20:03, 7 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

No, you haven't retired: you've been blocked, again and again and again. And you didn't get permission for any of those files. Given that some come from the Getty (if I recall correctly), and they never give permission, you certainly didn't get it, plus the sources were from all over the place. The truth is, you just think that any image that's on the internet is yours for the taking, because you want to have more images in articles that are important to you. But the simple fact is that we follow copyright law, and then layer on extra restrictions on fair use files. It's very very simple: if an image is in a free license (public domain or CC-BY-SA), then you can use it. If it's not, then odds are extremely high that you can't (and if the image is of a living person, or owned by a news agency or a museum, you definitely can't). It doesn't matter if you take the image and then cut it, or crop it, or slightly alter the color balance--the underlying image is still copyrighted. These are our rules. If you want to try to learn them, maybe someone will help you, but if not, you'll just keep getting blocked and your edits rolled back and your files deleted.
