Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, JaneAshton99, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Ian and I work with Wiki Education; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Potential articles

[edit]

FYI, you were supposed to post these in your userpage for me to see so that I know you've at least done one wikimarkup edit.

  • Holly Black
    • This is a WP:BLP and one that isn't too terrible, despite the possible WP:PROMO. I've seen worse and it's not going to be that easy for you to fix.
  • Jake the Dog
    • Ah, a tough one. This has some problem with fictional characters here and what is sometimes called "Fancruft" on Wikipedia. A hard thing to fix but one I think you could take on. But you need to get on this really soon and make sure you really understand the issues involved before hopping in.
  • Ricky Montgomery
    • Another BLP -- I think that he's too new to have more than this at this point. Not enough to work with.
  • Sarah J. Maas
    • Again, BLP -- that's not a problem, but this one is not terrible (definitely not neutral but not entirely promotional) and the work you'd need to do involves a bit more research and writing than we want here.
  • Young adult fiction
    • This one might work. It was worked on by some students in a different class back 4 or 5 years ago. The content isn't terrible but I can see some major tasks that you could take on here. The organization might be ok though, so maybe we should take another look at it early next week to see if there really is enough for you to do here.

I'm not super happy with the two that do work here, so be in touch about what you want to do. The Jake the Dog is a good but tough task that involves potential deletion of content, but you could take that on. I'm not sure about the YA one. I'm not going to add it to the list of available articles until we've talked about this more. Etherfire (talk) 15:21, 12 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Organizational History

[edit]
    • Jake the Dog -- The first structure for this article was in January of 2013. After that, it was edited every few months, likely when another major episode of "Adventure Time" was released. Gen. Quon and Titanic1000 were major contributors to this article in the beginning stages. On February 14, 2022, there were many edits made by 2001:4455:364:a800:19c4:8d8a:db1c:6ef3 (username?). They mostly added to the categories of Cameo Appearances and Other, but much of this information is now duplicated in multiple places. Condensing and refining this is one of the major edits I'll need to make.
    • Myth -- The first structure for this article was in February of 2004. 200.191.188.xxx is one of the largest contributors to this article, but it seems that most users only added a few edits and did not come back to the page afterwards. This article is rarely updated; the last update was on Feb. 10, but it consisted of only minor edits made by Freeman1856.
