User talk:Jane.Justesen
I'm editing a previous talk page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Jane.Justesen) in which I suggested edits to the locked Wikipedia English language entry at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_language, as I made a style error of my own in the two numbered items on that talk page. (I have no idea whether I'm going about this correctly; I'd wanted simply to correct the entry in the usual way.) The corrections made here are to the punctuation of my own suggested edits only; I'm simply deleting the ellipses erroneously placed at the beginning of both sentences. This is the body of the corrected talk page:
"As I have not yet made 10 Wikipedia edits and been automatically confirmed as an editing user, I'm being instructed to suggest edits to a locked Wikipedia entry (one for "English language," ironically) via this page.
I'd change "it has been widely dispersed around the world, become the leading language of international discourse, and has acquired use as lingua franca in many regions" to read either of two ways:
1. "It has been widely dispersed around the world, [has] become the leading language of international discourse, and has acquired use as lingua franca in many regions."
2. "It has been widely dispersed around the world, become the leading language of international discourse, and [strike has] acquired use as lingua franca in many regions."
It's an issue of parallelism, I guess.
I'd also change "south-east" in the entry's first sentence to "southeast," as I believe "south-east" is considered a variant of the more widely accepted "southeast."
I'm not sure yet what I'd do with "third most natively spoken language in the world," but the phrase "most natively" baffles me.
(I tried to put a link to the page in question here, but Wikipedia rejected the link as blacklisted.)
These are minor edits, but they're needed."
