[edit]The article, "Conflict Management Style" did not have appropriate references and the definition of conflict; hence I added the definition of conflict and then cited the proper sources I have used. The sentences that I have types was: Conflict is usually found in individualistic culture, in which competition and individual achievement is stressed over interdependence. 'Conflict is defined as a interference between two or more individuals or groups of people have incongruent state in aims, values, expectations, purposes, etc.

[edit]I have read five sources that were related to the topic of conflict management. Furthermore, I chose this topic while I have considered others too. I have started working on finding ideas that I want to use in order to improve the topic I am working on. I have also added this wiki topic to the class' course page. The 5 bibliography that I have used and added on the wiki page were:
- Bulleted list item Craig, Grace (2010). Understanding Human Development. Boston: Prentice Hall. p. 7.
- Bulleted list item Nakayama, Thomas (2008). Experiencing Intercultural Communication. New York: Mc Graw Hill. p. 211.
- Bulleted list item Ruble, T. L., & Thomas, K. W. (1976). Support for a two-dimensional model of conflict behavior. Organizational Behavior and Human Performance, 16, 143-155.
- Bulleted list item Kuhn, T., & Poole, M. S. (2000). Do conflict management styles affect group decision making? Human Communication Research, 26(4), 558-590.
- Bulleted list item Kadir, Ashraful (2011, March 11). Five Conflict Management Styles at A Glance. Sources of Insight. Retrieved from http://sourcesofinsight.com/conflict-management-styles-at-a-glance/.

[edit]Whenever I work on my topic, I have summarized what I worked at that time in the space at the space of "Edit summary". I have added 4-5 sentences and they were: A conflict management style is by some Ruble and Thomas described that conflict styles of an individual is related to the patterns of behavior predisposition that develop an individual's behaviors and reactions. According to Kuhn and Poole, Conflict management style is a "general and consistent orientation toward the other party and the conflict issues, manifest in observable behaviors that form a pattern and share common characteristics over time". Every individual needs to understand how to approach and handle conflicts in order to resolve it. There is a model called, "Thomas-Kilmann model" designed by two psychologists, Kenneth Thomas and Ralph Kilmann. It was designed to demonstrate how individuals choose the conflict styles when they handle conflict. Thomas-Kilmann model suggests 5 approaches or principles that guide individuals via the conflict process. The 5 approaches are competing, accommodating, avoiding, compromising, and collaborating.
My article is about Conflict management basically. Everyone has different style of managing their emotions or conflicts when they meet a new person or are placed in a new group of people or situation. There are several styles of managing conflicts according to Thomas model. There are 5 approaches that guide people through the conflict process that also may help them to reduce tension of misunderstanding of someone or something so that people can understand the differences and adapt to it. Conflict management style refers to the different and various ways of how people deal with conflicts or disagreements they face with. Through this management style, people may know how they can manage their way of making agreement among people who have different thoughts and how they persuade them. The management styles vary from a culture to another and from a nation to another; for example, the culture of high-context and low-context have very different lifestyles. So it is very important to know how to manage the conflicts as we live in the global world changing at a fast pace

[edit]I have added more information about Thomas-Kilmann model. I explained what the five approaches refer to.

Hi, I am James Min, a student at Azusa Pacific University. I have reviewed your article, and I have some suggestions for you to improve your article to be more credible article to people. Your current article has many information that are useful for us to understand about TCK. However, some parts of it are required to cite the sources that you have referred from outside sources that could be a book, journal, or other articles other people already publicized. For example, the bullets that you listed are required for you to give credits to the authors. However, it only has one citation at the last bullet. So, if you used all information from one source, please cite or give the reference to the rest too. Overall, I liked that you provide some links that are relevant to your topic. It helped me to understand better. If you have any question, please leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you, — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jamesmin89 (talk • contribs) 08:21, 12 April 2013 (UTC)

Peer Review
[edit]Hey James, I really enjoyed your article and it is clear that you are knowledgable about hte subject. Like another peer reviewer said, just be careful to not make it sound like you are writing an essay. Overall, I think your additions worked really well with the page and you really improved it! Hi Jamesmin89, I am in the 11:50 Intercultural Communication class and will be peer reviewing your article. If you need anything from me at all, please contact me on my talk page. I think you're on the right track with information to add on the subject, just be careful not to create an audience of a professor. Some of your additions are seeming very scholarly but WP is supposed to be concise and descriptive over being written like the average paper. I would say go through some of your statements and see where you could make some of your points more brief. Other than that, I think your contributions are working well within the topic.

Hi Jamesmin89, I am in the 11:50 Intercultural Communication class. First of all, I would like to thank you for your addition of information to the article. I am sure many people will benefit from it. If you need clarification for anything or any help, feel free to contact me through my talk page. After the changes you made by adding in specific examples, I think that it helps a lot in understanding how the idea plays out in context. I find that very helpful as a student looking to understand the concept better. I noticed that there is a template asking for citation under the development section. Perhaps you could look into that. Other than that, good job with the added information.

[edit]Since one of the classmates from 11:50 class has peer reviewed my article, I considered what I can develop my article and go through what Lauren recommended. When I start this article, I thought I need to make it look professional rather than average article because it is an open source and everyone primarily get information from wikipedia. In order to deliver the credible information, I have been developing this article to be more professional by citing other sources. After her recommendation, I added a example that an international student may face when he or she come to another country in order to help readers understand why conflict management is required or needed for people.
