Welcome!
[edit]Hello, Jamesinthemud, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one of your contributions does not conform to Wikipedia's Neutral Point of View policy (NPOV). Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations that have been stated in print or on reputable websites or other forms of media.
There's a page about the NPOV policy that has tips on how to effectively write about disparate points of view without compromising the NPOV status of the article as a whole. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Questions page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, to ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. Below are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. - is much more than a grammar change - and it changes the tone of the article to start to sound like the reader should support a certain side in the story. Similarly, changing:
Cuba is traditionally a Catholic country. The Roman Catholic religion was brought to Cuba by Spanish colonialists at the beginning of the 16th century, is the most prevalent professed faith. After the revolution, Cuba became an officially atheistic state and restricted religious practice. Since the Fourth Cuban Communist Party Congress in 1991, restrictions have been eased and, according to the National Catholic Observer, direct challenges by state institutions to the right to religion have all but disappeared

Cuba is traditionally a Catholic country, but the communist regime does not recognize religious freedom. The Roman Catholic religion was brought to Cuba by Spanish colonists at the beginning of the 16th century, and it is the most prevalent professed faith. After the 1950’s revolution and subsequent takeover by the brutal communist regime, Cuba became an officially atheist state, like most Soviet Union puppet states, and the government disposed of religious freedom. Since the Fourth Cuban Communist Party Congress in 1991, restrictions have been only slightly eased. The church still faces restrictions of written and electronic communication, and can only accept donations from state-approved funding sources
- is not only much, much more than a change in grammar and an addition of significant editorial slant, it also removes a chunk of information that was present in the original version
- I'd advise taking a look at the guidelines on neutrality, and in future, please also make sure your edit summaries don't downplay the significance of the changes you're introducing. AntiDionysius (talk) 23:06, 20 July 2024 (UTC)
- I have a PhD in the history of the Americas, specifically Latin American history. I do not need you to tell me how or what to write. Thank you. Jamesinthemud (talk) 23:12, 20 July 2024 (UTC)
- I'm not telling you how to write, I'm telling you how Wikipedia works.
- As for telling you what to write, Wikipedia isn't created by any one person but a collective effort, so sooner or later you are going to have to listen to the input of other people. AntiDionysius (talk) 23:14, 20 July 2024 (UTC)
- If you’re going to correct me, please don’t put a capitalized but at the beginning of a sentence. Now someone has to correct that grammar. Jamesinthemud (talk) 23:19, 20 July 2024 (UTC)
- I wasn't correcting your grammar, I was, as I just explained, making you aware of Wikipedia policies.
- But this may be a good opportunity for a fun fact: there is overwhelming consensus among style guides and dictionaries is that there is no grammatical rule against beginning a sentence with a conjunction, like "and" or "but". AntiDionysius (talk) 23:29, 20 July 2024 (UTC)
- MLA and APA beg to differ. I appreciate you trying to help me understand the rules. Sorry if I got defensive. Jamesinthemud (talk) 23:45, 20 July 2024 (UTC)

- I'd also add that the comment in question was a pretty severe breach of the policies on civility and respect. AntiDionysius (talk) 16:57, 21 July 2024 (UTC)

- Okay? And I’ll go enjoy my family and the outside world. Then I will make another account in a few weeks when I’m bored with a VPN spoofer. This is actually my fifth account lol. Jamesinthemud (talk) 17:47, 21 July 2024 (UTC)
