Spelling
[edit]Please stop Americanising the spelling of articles written in British English - it is a breach of Wikipedia policy jimfbleak (talk) 06:40, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- You can sign your comments automatically using four tildes ~~~~. See this. I picked up Bird and a British historical article. Allotropes of sulfur was OK since in US anyway. jimfbleak (talk) 07:24, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- I don't use -ize, even in FAs (except White-breasted Nuthatch, which I wrote in American), so it's certainly not a requirement. If an article is written consistently in -ise, you need a good reason to change it, and it's not a spelling correction anyway, just a preference. jimfbleak (talk) 10:05, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- Fair point, but you would be surprised how often the spelling of colour, behaviour, grey and suchlike get "corrected" - not to mention a herb jimfbleak (talk) 17:48, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
