Future missions and astronaut infobox

Please don't add future missions to the astronaut infobox. Since flight schedules can change, the infobox listing should be reserved for flights actually flown. Flights the person is scheduled to be on can be described in the body of the article. For example, while Clayton Anderson is scheduled to return on STS-120, things can change and he could come back on a different flight. Until he actually joins the STS-120 crew and it undocks from the ISS, it shouldn't be in the infobox. Rillian 13:53, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I corrected mission specialist 1 vs. #2. For the rest remember that the article should be readable by 10 year olds if needed. Having a list with acronyms like you were using is simply not appropriate in a encyclopedic article. I advice you to read trough some of the Wikipedia:Manual of Style guidelines and the guidelines on space missions. If I change something, then I do that for a reason. In your case it was that it was making the article less readable then acceptable. If your changes are correct and wouldn't have made the article overly complicated then I wouldn't have changed it back. --TheDJ (talkcontribs) 00:57, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Jamesbondfan, I've reverted your changing the time format in the STS-120 infobox, because WikiProject Human Spaceflight has discussed this issue extensively, and the consensus and decision was: "Times in the infobox should be in 24-hour UTC.", but when appropriate, in the article space, we can put local time in parentheses. Hello again Jamesbondfan, I've restored the previous version of the above page, because you have removed valid, informative sources from the article, and you've changed things like "Commander" to "CDR" which is not proper per the manual of style, and per the WikiProject Space Missions design. This was also mentioned above by TheDJ, when done to STS-120. The articles here need to be written in an encyclopedic manner, so that even those unfamiliar with the subject matter will understand what is written. I hope you do not take offense, but the format is done for all missions, and the crew notes section is not for explaining what a "CDR" is, but rather giving information on original crew assigned, and other items of note. I put the crew in order, and again removed your edits that removed the spelling out of Commander and Pilot, and Mission Specialist, per the manual of style and the Project's guidelines. Please don't continue to add a "key", acronyms are not done like this, I really would encourage you to review the manual of style which explains the proper use of acronyms, and why things should be spelled out, as mentioned by myself, and TheDJ above, the average reader needs to be able to read this and not have to consult some key to decipher the article's content. As for who is doing the EVAs, that will be in the EVA table once the mission begins. JetBlue/JFK

I agree that JFK is a "hub" for JetBlue, but you can't just change it in the article. Theres an entire section on the talk page discussing the issue and a consensus was reached to call JFK a "focus city." The correct place to bring this up is at the talk page, not my user page. Daunte Culpepper

Culpepper has not been signed by the Lions. He has merely "agreed to terms" on a contract, but he is not a member of the Lions. All the reports, including the ones you presumably have read, say he will be signed on Monday. Hi James, please don't remove references from articles, as you did here, the references are there to reference the crew selection, and both were cited multiple times, so by removing them, you introduced citation errors into the references section. I moved Bowen up, since it seems you were concerned about the order they were listed, but please note that it really does not matter what order the crew is listed, or which "MS" number they are, in the context of the article, a Mission Specialist is a Mission Specialist, and where they sit in the orbiter is not particularly relevant to the mission. Tons of the other coaches on that template share names with NFL assistants. Just because Ryan has a brother who is an assistant doesn't mean anything. There is a difference between "will be" and "has been".... he is NOW... he wasn't yesterday... I have been around here for a long time, know Acaba, written his bio. and have been responsible for his recognition in Puerto Rico. I know the if's and and's of the image policy in Wikipedia and therefore do not need anyone to tell me which images are suitable or not. The image which you have placed has him in his astronaut uniform and there already is one in the article the other image which is also PD is an official NASA image which is a much better one. I wish to apologize for reverting your edit a few days ago. You are indeed correct that Pope John Paul II celebrated Mass at Yankee Stadium in 1979. I had reverted the edit because the citation only mentioned Shea Stadium. Upon doing a bit of looking into things, I found that the Vatican's official website and the Pope's official biography verify that there was indeed a Papal Mass at Yankee Stadium. While it is good that you edit Wikipedia to try and ensure accuracy, I have recently had to revert a part of one of your edits. You decided to remove the picture and status of Simon Cowell as a guest judge on The X Factor (UK series 10). However, references say that he will simply not be meeting with the other judges before bootcamp, but now giving his opinions via telephone, his input will be the same in a judge capacity. Furthermore, he is also guest judging at the live shows so there was no reason to remove this content. Both myself and another editer spent a long time getting the photo's right. So, don't take this as a downer, it is great you put effort in to editing Wiki; but in future if you are removing material, instead of adding, please discuss with the person that added the material (unless it it clearly a mistake or vandalism).

I've removed the speedy template from the page because I had moved it into the user's userspace. I agree that it is too soon for this to be in the mainspace, but there is no reason why it should be deleted from the editor's userspace at this point in time. I moved it there so it can be worked on until the season begins, at which point it can be moved back into the mainspace. WP:TOOSOON doesn't really apply to userspace entries.   • If this was still in the mainspace, you could delete it via a speedy deletion or an AfD. However what I did was move this to the editor's personal userspace, which is an entirely different beast. If you really want this deleted, feel free to go through WP:MfD. However I don't think that a deletion is really necessary. This is the userspace and people frequently use it as a place to store things for upcoming events, movies, books, or anything that doesn't satisfy mainstream requirements but might in the future. I moved it because while it is very premature for this to be in the mainspace, I don't want the work to go to waste since it is highly likely that there will be a football team for Vanderbuilt in 2015. Storing this instead of just outright deleting it is a good way to have something to transfer when sourcing for this does come available. Since the editor also has a history of editing on Wikipedia, I decided that it'd be a nice gesture to userfy the data for him so he can work on improving it- something I often do on Wikipedia if I think that there is enough of an assertion of future notability.   • Basically, just because deletion would be possible in the mainspace doesn't mean that deletion is always the best alternative. Sometimes it's better to give the editor a chance to work on the material rather than just outright deleting everything. Let's give him a chance to work on it. Hello. Just wanted to let you know that I reverted your edit. I am currently working on removing them, so you don't need to be a jerk about it. Other users are removing them too, so it's not just me. Non-notable staff violates WP:LISTPEOPLE. Here is a quote from another editor:

You're framing the comment as though they are removing content to make it incorrect and you're trying to correct it, but that's not what they are doing. Unsourced content must be sourced, if they remove it and you reinsert it, find a source that supports it. Further, if a name is added to a list of people, it must meet the very basic criteria listed at WP:LISTPEOPLE. That the information had already been there is irrelevant; lots of articles need cleanup, that doesn't mean they can never be cleaned up just because they've been problematic for a length of time.
Also, you are at 3 reverts on a number of these articles, and if you violate WP:3RR you may be blocked without further warning to prevent further disruption to the articles. However, that doesn't mean you can edit 3 times and then stop, you'll likely be blocked for that as well. Please stop, find sources, and discuss this on the article talk pages and get a consensus for your preferred content before attempting to reinsert the material.
