RE: Your question to stop revert war

[edit]

You asked: "Can someone tell me how thurberchan does not conform to this?"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:External_links#What_should_be_linked

-Look under "Links Normally to be Avoided:"

10. "Links to social networking sites (such as MySpace), discussion forums, or USENET."

13. "Sites that are only indirectly related to the article's subject: the link should be directly related to the subject of the article. A general site that has information about a variety of subjects should usually not be linked to from an article on a more specific subject."

Hopefully this will clear up your confusion.

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to George Mason HS. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policy for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Thank you. -FisherQueen (Talk) 16:25, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
