Ultimate Iron Man Mess-up
[edit]You klutz, what did you do to the Ultimate Iron Man page, it is messed up you fool. --KeyserSoze 23:07, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
- Firstly, I don't appreciate the comments. If you have an opinion of me, please take it to the proper forum i.e. my opinion page. Secondly, there was a descision made last year that all Ultimate Marvel characters must be merged into their parent pages. The Ultimate Iron Man article was ruled to only be relevant to the mini-series, and that was what I turned it into. The reason that the page is poor is that there is no good information there, and since I haven't read the mini-series I cannot add any. If you know more about the mini-series than me, feel free to expand the article, as I have nothing more to contribute. --Jamdav86 13:22, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
- Just to weigh in here, I think a problem with the UIM changes you made is that as you said, "all Ultimate Marvel characters must be merged into their parent pages". While you deleted the character info from the UIM page, you didn't add it to the IM page. rst20xx 14:34, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, I pasted all of the character info directly into the article (which was wrong) and khaosworks cut the main bulk of it out (which was right) as shown here. --Jamdav86 19:16, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
- While I see what happened now (thanks), it is my opinion that most of the information cut out should have been left on the Iron Man page (minus the infobox, obviously, and also the description about his creation). The length of this section and the level of description contained is comparable to that of Ultimate Cap over at the Captain America page, for example. So to reiterate, what I'm saying is IMO the section about other versions would look better off like this:User:Rst20xx/Iron Man. And then there'd be a link on the Ultimate Iron Man page to that section. rst20xx 19:56, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
I made a slight alteration of it and added it to your talk page. Feel free to past that into the article. --Jamdav86 20:09, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry, altered what? Added it to my talk page where? Anyways I just realised the link I gave for my proposed page didn't work (my mistake) so you might have missed it. It's User:Rst20xx/Iron Man. Do you think that's alright? Input? Thanks :) rst20xx 20:22, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
- I added it to User talk:Rst20xx/Iron Man, as my IP is currently blocked so I can only edit talk pages. --Jamdav86 20:26, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
- Oh sorry, I see it now, I didn't think to look there. I see that the alternation is that you changed the name of the section from Alternate Iron Mans to Other versions. The reason I did this is as it mirrored the Captain America page, and it stopped "Others" from effectively being repeated twice. I think I'll go with the Alternate versions name and put it into the Iron Man page now. I'm glad we sorted this out tho :) If you don't mind me asking, why was your IP blocked tho? If you don't want to answer, feel free to edit out these last two sentences :P rst20xx 20:39, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
It wasn't me, it was an anon vandalising, but unfortunately I am on AOL so my IP is shared, and I can't be bothered to email an admin every time my IP is blocked. --Jamdav86 20:43, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
- Tough break :/ but doesn't that effectively end your contributing? Anyways I emptied the page I made and moved the stuff across. I'll also add a link to it over at the Ultimate Iron Man page. rst20xx 20:45, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
No, I just have to wait until the block expires, but I don't get the same IP every time I open AOL so I don't worry about it. About your edit, I feel that these examplars will help guide your future comics-article edits. --Jamdav86 20:50, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks, that is helpful, although I fail to see how I went against that in my edit. rst20xx 20:54, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
You shifted the other versions bit into the wrong section. Doesn't matter too much. --Jamdav86 20:56, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
- Oh I see what you mean. Well I was just placing it like where it is on all the other articles. rst20xx 23:24, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
Then we'll have to find these other pages and correct them, won't we? :) --Jamdav86 10:11, 8 January 2006 (UTC)
Removed Grammar Nazi
[edit]I'm a new user; so does this mean that the debate over the grammar nazi userbox is concluded? JamieJones 01:16, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
- No, it doesn't. Actually it was nothing to do with the TfD. Whenever the box was inserted the whole page under it was put into the grammar nazi cell, so I removed it for ease. If you can find a way around the error, feel free to put it back in. And welcome to Wikipedia! --Jamdav86 17:18, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
Doctor Who DVD Releases
[edit]Sorry, somehow missed your comment earlier.
I think it's germane info to know how the episodes will be released; this was confirmed in DWM. Even if we don't know when, or if the episodes haven't aired, anyone looking for info on the DVDs will be interested to note the layout of the episodes in the vanilla releases, I'm sure. Radagast 04:09, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
So that's how you do it
[edit]You know, I was wondering how I linked to a picture's page without actually inserting the image into the discussion (re your edit of my comment at the Doctor Who WikiProject talk page). Now I know — cheers! Angmering 23:36, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
Changed She-Hulk class
[edit]User:Jamdav86/Strength level (comics)I moved She-Hulk from class 90 to Incalculable due to her new strength after her fight against the champion of the universe. The Class damn needed a girl don't you agree? ^^
Thanks for the userbox
[edit]Punisher merge
[edit]I noticed you flagged up two entries for a merge into List of The Punisher comics and I just flagged up another. Meanwhile someone else has suggested actually getting rid of the list entry so I thought I'd drop a note in so we could get your opinion on the best way forward. Thanks for any help you can give. Collab
[edit]Thanks for taking the initiative to start the newest comics COTM! Someone had to do it. ike9898 16:03, 11 June 2006 (UTC)
X-Men Move
[edit]I noticed you moved X-Men, vol. 2 to X-Men (vol. 2). While I agree that this name is better, I had just posted a on the talk page and the notice board a suggestion to move it to X-Men (comic book) per the naming convention page. I waited for a couple of days for comments, and then came back to see that the page was moved without any comments or responses. I am glad that the page got moved from that horrible name, but could you look at my reasoning, and let me know if you think that works better? Thanks! --Silver lode 00:58, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
Your place will not be forgotten
[edit]Dear Jamdav86,
As it looks now, all of the Doctor Who and Star Trek templates I put up for deletion will be deleted. However, after looking in the history of the Doctor Who templates, I saw that you were the original creator of them. Now I understand why you wish for them to stay. I want you to know that you will not be forgotten as the originator of the master template I created from yours. On the template page I have place a special thanks to you. Thank you for designing them and giving me something with which to work. I will keep your place in the history of the master template alive for as long as I edit Wikipedia. Yours is the last Keep left in that discussion.
I hope that we can work together in the future.

Thank you for your factual, grammatical and stylistic fixes. User:Asgardian continues to put his own pet line in, no matter how misspelled, POV, or crystal ball, and User:CovenantD and I, among others, have found him or her difficult. Thanks for your vigilance. --Tenebrae 19:36, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
Interesting comment given their respective histories. Their assumptions aside, the Civil War #4 cover is not Thor - it's a clone and therefore incorrect. See my comments on the Thor Talk page re: this.
Asgardian 10:48, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
By the by, Thor has superior speed but not SUPER speed. That's different. Energy projection also covers all those kinds of blasts Mjolnir can emit, and the hammer can also manipulate matter. Fact.

She-Hulk Pub. Hist.
[edit]Hey, Jamdav86. Just wanted to clarify my position: I think the entry reads best with the publication history information appearing as a part of the bibliographic section. (Since a separate narration of each S-H appearance makes the entry too long.) However, if you feel strongly that a separate section listing all of the character's appearances needs to be there, in my opinion a reader should be given the character's biographical information prior to the detailed Publication History.--Galliaz 16:31, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
- Well, the "official" position is that it should be the first section of the article, following the example of Fantastic Four, Hulk, Spider-Man et cetera. Additionally, it is more important to note the real-world history rather than the fictional history. It is more important to know that Harry Potter is a multimedia sensation than the fact he is in Gryffindor. --Jamdav86 16:42, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
Good edit
[edit]... in Thor (Marvel Comics) about the upcoming movie. It's so good and so refreshing to see someone take the time and make the effort to write about a future event encyclopedically, simply giving the facts and a citation about who announced what. Bravo, and I hope other edits pick up from your example. Cheers to you -- Tenebrae 20:34, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
The new character table at Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
[edit]Why did you feel the need to make it (and not even discuss it with others at the talk page)? Currently it's a revert war, between the old and new tables. A discussion about which table is better and should be kept, should be made on the talk page (otherwise the revert war will continue between the users). I haven't touched it, because I know it will be reverted back by whoever likes the other table more. RobJ1981 19:02, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
- Because the old table was crap. I know nothing of this revert war. --Jamdav86 19:55, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
Batman/Superman template widths
[edit]- Could you explain 'too tall' please? Thanks. --Jamdav86 20:42, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
Since you asked about my edit (and, believe me, I appreciate the interest) to a template width, I'd like your input at Template_talk:Batman#Template_width so those of us who have been working on these templates can agree on how to standardize them. Doczilla 21:52, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
Requested move
[edit]Hi Jamdav: I didn't move List of Batman comics as that is the way the Wikipedia manual of style says to have pages named. If you still think it should be moved, you can list it in the controversial section and follow the directions there. —Mets501 (talk) 20:38, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
Thor (Marvel Comics)
[edit]Hi, the stuff about Rikki Lee Travolta is fake. Arniep 10:34, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
- I don't believe it either. However, there will be a Thor film, and the source is valid, so when I rewrote the section I made it clear that while not official, those comments were made. --Jamdav86 10:50, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
- We had a problem with him before as he sends loads of self publicity mailings to websites- it looks like this one got duped- he's not Travolta's nephew as Travolta has no brother who could be his father. Arniep 11:07, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
