SwissBorg is democratising wealth management by making it fun, fair, and community-centric.

History

SwissBorg was founded in an ICO (initial coin offering) in 2017 by former asset managers Cyrus Fazel and Anthony Leoismier Geniux. SwissBorg’s ICO raised $10 million in its first 12 hours, ultimately raising $52 million from 23,000 contributors in 149 countries.

One month after the completion of the ICO, the project’s token - CHSB - was listed on HitBTC.

In 2018 SwissBorg ran one of the first decentralised referendums on the Ethereum blockchain, allowing its token holders to vote on the company’s project. Over 8,000 people participated and received in total CHF 125,399 and 6,522,068.88 CHSB for their contributions. A second referendum allowed community members to vote on the sector they would first like to engage in an ICO mentoring program.

In March 2019, SwissBorg launched its free Bitcoin prediction app, the Community App, which allows users to predict whether Bitcoin will go up or down on a daily basis, and win a share of a $300,000+ prize pool. By June 2021, before the planned rebrand as Crypto Challenge, the app had over 305,000 players.

In March 2020, the company launched its showcase product, the SwissBorg app, which grew to a user base of over 400,000 users by May 2021. As of June 2021, the app lists 17 crypto tokens and 15 fiat currencies, and supports 330 fiat and crypto pairs. As of Q1 2021, the app held more than $1 billion in assets under management, and in its first 12 months had more than $2 billion in exchange volume.

SwissBorg expanded the features of its app from a cryptocurrency wallet and exchange to a yielding platform with the release of its Smart Yield wallet in December 2020. Since the release of the first Smart Yield wallet, the company has added yield-earning wallets to Bitcoin, Ethereum, USD Coin[1], Binance Coin and Tether, with yields ranging from 5% on Bitcoin for standard users to over 30% for USD Coin for users with Premium accounts.

SwissBorg’s ICO in 2017 raised 50 million CHF from 24,000 contributors in 149 countries. The ICO price of the SwissBorg token (CHSB) was $0.10.

Over the course of 2018, the token’s price fell below $0.006, hitting an all-time low of $0.00477 on July 24, 2019.

The price did not recover until 2020, in the lead up to the launch of SwissBorg’s wealth management app in March. Three months after the launch, CHSB hit a then all-time high of $0.17. From July to December 2020, the token ranged between $0.06 and $0.13, until the launch of the company’s Smart Yield program propelled the token to hit new highs of $0.26.

This rise saw CHSB become one of 2020’s top-performing tokens, its price rising by 2,700% and reaching the top 70 tokens on CoinMarketCap[2].

In early 2021, the token continued its rise, achieving a market capitalisation of more than $1 billion in March [3], then reaching a new all-time high of $1.65 in May.

Over the following month, the token’s price declined with the rest of the crypto market, reaching a low of $0.53 - a price not seen since January 2021.

CHSB utilities

The CHSB token offers the following utilities:

• Yielding: The CHSB Yield Program allows holders to earn yields on their CHSB balance, linking the yield paid to the performance of the SwissBorg ecosystem (see Community Index).
• Protect & Burn Mechanism: 20% of the revenues made on fees in the SwissBorg app set aside for SwissBorg’s Protect & Burn mechanism. Like a buyback and burn program, Protect & Burn involves the company buying back tokens to destroy them. The key difference is SwissBorg only burns tokens when the price moves into a bearish zone, theoretically protecting the price of the token.
• Premium Membership: Users can lock CHSB tokens to get Premium account benefits, with two accounts available - Genesis Premium and Community Premium. The Genesis Premium account gives users exchanges on BTC, CHSB and stablecoins for 0% fees, as well as doubling the yield earnt on Smart Yield accounts on USDC, CHSB, ETH, BTC, BNB and USDT. The Community Premium account includes 0.75% fees on all exchanges, as well as a 1.5X yield multiplier.
• Community Rewards: Users can earn CHSB rewards by participating in the SwissBorg DAO[4].
• SwissBorg National Council: In 2021, SwissBorg launched a National Council where token holders can participate in the future of SwissBorg through a decentralised governance mechanism.

SwissBorg Community Index

The SwissBorg Community Index measures the performance of the SwissBorg ecosystem, and is used to calculate the weekly yield on the CHSB token. According to SwissBorg’s blog, “Inspired by the Proof of Stake model, which rewards a community for helping an ecosystem to function and scale by validating transactions, our Community Index rewards CHSB token holders who are committed to supporting our ecosystem.”

The Community Index is a weighted sum of the following six scores:

1. Svolume: SwissBorg App Volume Score
2. SCHSB: CHSB Token Score
3. Sactivity: SwissBorg App Activity Score
4. SCAP : Community App Score
5. SDAO: DAO Engagement Score
6. Ssocial: Social Media Engagement Score

The formula to calculate the Index is CI = 3 x Svolume + 2 x (SCHSB+ Sactivity) + SCAP + SDAO + Ssocial.[5]

The CHSB Yield is then mapped based on the weekly Community Index score, and the total number of CHSB held by SwissBorg’s users in their yield wallets.
