Tribute to Joe White of Dorchester

[edit]

Hi there. I understand the human need to make tribute to loved ones. You can use your user page to do that, you know, but you can't add it on the Wikipedia main-pages (articles). (I use mine to add a few silly facts about me).

I liked your story you wrote on my talk page about your father. Thank you for sharing that. You are not alone wanting to add your history to Wikipedia, but, again, it really does have to be notable in an encyclopedic way in order to stay. I love the history of my family and the city to which I was born. I can't add my "story" but I can add notable facts to articles if they are backed up by reliable sources. I'm sorry about your father, I'm sure you miss him. I wonder what area of Dorchester he was born? I'll read more on the link you gave me. Best wishes. - Jeeny -talk- 19:39, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

(edit to add): Oh, just to clear this up: I am NOT an administer. Just someone who likes history, and many more subjects, and make sure that facts check out, in an encyclopedic way. The Dorchester article is on my watch list as it has a large place in my heart. I was born and raised there myself. And, I have a couple of notable relatives, but I do not touch those, because I'm biased. :/ - Jeeny -talk- 19:45, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. I found my father on that site! He's buried in the Bourne Cemetery, in MA. (I don't want to put too much personal information here, for now) You are welcome for the flowers.
Glad to see you created a user page. It takes time to learn the "ropes" and I don't think I will ever learn all of them. I have just enough knowledge to get in trouble. :) I've posted the standard welcome below as it has links that may help you. (and be right here on your page) Hopefully, you can understand the formatting, code, etc. better than I. - Jeeny -talk- 21:42, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome. If you need help or have any questions please feel free to ask me. I don't know much, but I'll try to help. If I can't, then I'll try pointing you in another direction, or say, "I dunno." - Jeeny 04:56, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:SMWestlogo.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:SMWestlogo.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. I'm getting this Bot message on an image I uploaded telling me I haven't provided fair use rationale to upload the logo. I believe I have, but the bot message persists, saying the image will be auto-delted in a few days. Help!!!

Well, that's funny. You have indeed added a fair use rationale, but the bot apparently isn't set up to recognize that it's part of the template. I will go remove the deletion template and let the bot's owner know he needs to fix it. Sorry about that. You may delete the above notice if you wish, it does not apply. Hersfold (t/a/c) 20:43, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, The bot left the message before the rationale was added. --ST47Talk·Desk 20:44, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, just noticed that. Oops. The bot is set up to identify when a rationale does not exist, but it's not set up to remove the tag once it has been added - it leaves that to the bot's operator. Sorry, ST47, for the mistake, and sorry, Jak, for the false info. Hersfold (t/a/c) 20:48, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks guys. Sorry for the confusing problem description, I should have noted the the problem was in removing the bot notice after the rationale was added. --Jakzhumans 21:12, 10 August 2007

Mangino Investigation(s)

[edit]

There are two investigations on record for Mangino, one dealing with the parking tickets and the other with poking/grabbing the player. I probably should have included more references and a paragraph break.

  • That's fine, but I agree that clarification is needed. The parking investigation happened two years ago and is completely separate from the current one involving players.Jakzhumans (talk) 14:21, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    • Saw your clarification; works great. Thanks for the attention to detail.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
