Honestly, any unique content in your article should probably be merged into the other article and your article turned into a redirect. List of members of the United States Congress by year of birth and death
[edit]Hi, I just noticed you added List of United States Senators who were born or died in the 1970s. Great work, but I had been currently working on the same list. In addition, I am working on the Representative lists for the 1970s and just want to advise you in case you are as well so we are not both wasting our time by working on the same thing. Thanks. Oldest senators/question
[edit]Thanks for making those recent corrections to the oldest senators list, I don't know how I missed them. About James F. Byrnes, his birth year appears to be disputed and I was wondering your take on it. Many sources, including the congressional bio guide, list 1882, while many other sources including find a grave list 1879. Find a grave also has a photo of his gravestone which backs up the 1879 year. I'm wondering what you think about that, and in the meantime I will soon add a note to indicate the dispute on the 100 oldest list.
One other question I have is with William Scott Vare. I'm wondering about what you think the criteria should be with inclusion in the congress birth/deaths lists as far as actually being seated/taking office. On the 1982 representatives list, I did not include Jack Swigert in the total or list itself as he died before taking his seat despite winning the election. I did, however mention him in the intro as it was relevant. So back to Vare, he was elected but appears that he was never officially seated, yet you included him in the total and list. I'm just wondering your take on the inclusion criteria for those 2 and potentially others, such as Charles Gayarré. Thanks. RoadView (talk) 01:42, 3 August 2013 (UTC)
- Hi, In response to your comments; that all sounds fine. I would guess you agree, but I would add that when there are clearly multiple conflicting dates from credible sources, I think it's only fair to list the more modest date/age with a note rather the more exaggerated one. About the new table you mention, that's a good idea. For clarity, by table, I assume you mean on a brand new page? Also, after a new table is in place, is it your view to remove any mention/note about an elected, but unseated person on the birth/death pages, or leave a brief mention of them in the article lead in case someone is looking for them, as with Vare? Copying within Wikipedia

I'm helping correct some attribution errors in the "List of United States Senators in the Xth Congress by seniority" series and found that on at least one occasion ([1]), the content was added by you. I just need to stop by to be sure that you are aware that content on Wikipedia is copyrighted. While you are free to reuse it, one of the conditions of reuse is that you must give attribution for where you found it. This is not hard to do; at minimum, we require a note in the edit summary with a link to your source article. As Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia notes, a note on the talk page of the article is also recommended. Without attribution, I'm afraid that content copied from one Wikipedia article to another violates copyright. I have added the minimum attribution in this case - while I'm not sure which article specifically you copied the lead from, I have attributed it to what I believe is the oldest in the series - but need to make sure you are aware of these policies so you will follow the procedure going forward.
