[edit]It'd be useful, though I don't have/use AWB. I'm just using tabs from monobook.js that auto-add a start tag and nifty edit summary, or copy-pasting the |class=. Open up 5 firefox tabs at a time and I go pretty fast. --PresN 05:48, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
Islamophobia
[edit]Thanks for the link Jacoplane. I have to admit that I actually didn't knew that such a report was released these days, and I appreciate that you mention it to me. There is of course no doubt that we can mention something from that report in the article, but unfortunately my "wikitime" is still a bit limited... I'll read the "highlights" though and properly some selected parts of the report itself, and see what I can do about it. -- Karl Meier 17:21, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

Tweede Kamermembers-templates
[edit]Hi! With the creation of these templates like Template:D66 Tweede Kamer members you seem to imply that, like the Dutch wikipedia, the English wikipedia should have a page for each Dutch MP. Did you imply this? Because if you do I have some doubts whether that is a good thing to want and to enact now (seen the development of other articles on Dutch politcs). C mon 18:50, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
- You are only citing the secondary criterion, the primary criterion is that "newspaper articles, magazine articles, books, scholarly papers, and television documentaries" should be made about these persons. Furthermore the current policy implies that we can also make an article about each member of a Provinciale Staten.
- My doubts are dual:
- Should we intend to create an article on each Dutch MP is it worth the trouble? Are readers searching for this? Interested? I can see why the Dutch wikipedia has an article on each MP. But on the english wikipedia it seems logical to create articles on fractievoorzitters, ministers etc. instead of on MPs.
- Should we do it now. Seen the state of the rest of the field, articles are lacking on Dutch ministers, ministries, cabinets, etc. I would prefer to concentrate my energy there instead of on MPs.
- C mon 19:12, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
- First off I do think it is interesting to create small articles on more MPs, the current selection is very concentrated. It will also be an interesting way to create some coordination in articles on (politics of) the Netherlands, as the wikiproject we both signed onto also intended. But I have to note that most MPs are backbenchers, which will not become minister or state secretary, or reach foreign media, it is questionable whether many will gain prominence in the Dutch media. So I am not sure whether to create an article on each of the 150.C mon 20:00, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

I've nominated the article GuildCafe for deletion under the Articles for deletion process. We appreciate your contributions, but in this particular case I do not feel that GuildCafe satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion. I have explained why in the nomination space (see What Wikipedia is not and Deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/GuildCafe. Don't forget to add four tildes (~~~~) at the end of each of your comments to sign them. You are free to edit the content of GuildCafe during the discussion, but please do not remove the "Articles for Deletion" template (the box at the top). Doing so will not end the discussion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tarinth (talk • contribs)

[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Alizee.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECU≈talk 02:26, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Johann Hari pic
[edit]Hi JacoPlame - The picture of Johann Hari that you agreed to post has now been given the correct copyright-free status at flickr:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/75377964@N00/?saved=1
It turns out the picture of Hari currently on the article is not actually him (I e-mailed him, and he looked at it and informed me of this - see the discussion page) so as soon as you could correct it, that would be great.
It's probably best not to unfreeze the page though. There is still no consensus since the user Felix-Felix, who has in the past inserted libellous falsehoods and the current fake picture into the entry, is refusing any offers of a compromise. As you can see if you check out the discussion page, he has declared that he wants to unilaterally delete any of the critics he disagrees with, and wants to quote only the one group he happens to agree with, Medialens. David r from meth productions 17:59, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
Hi Jacoplane-the flickr picture of Hari is genuine, as I think I've established here[3] My position was always that this picture should stay in the article-even after the portrait photo is non-copyvio, which other editors supported too. Could it be replaced?Felix-felix 10:52, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:Ralphbaer.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Ralphbaer.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 20:14, 6 January 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECU≈talk 20:14, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

Your help with Felix-Felix
[edit]Hi JacoPlame - I wanted to get your advice. Felix-Felix, who has been trying to negatively change Johann Hari's wiki entry for ages, appears to have crossed a line.
He now claims Johann Hari advocates "the detruction of untermenschen", and has started saying it is not anti-Semitic to say "Jews rule the world". He has inserted libellous falsehoods into the article, including the claim hari went to Harrow School, one of the most expensive public schools in britain, when i fact he is from a workign class family.
I think there is a strong case for banning him from editing Johann Hari's entry since he clearly is motivated by extreme malice. Who do I appeal to to get him banned? What is the process for this?

A category that needs alot of CVG tags
[edit]The articles in Category:Computer and video game characters by game need alot, I've added some manually. If you could use AWB (since I don't have it/don't use it) that would be appreciated. RobJ1981 21:30, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
- That was quick, thanks. Here is another which I don't think is all tagged: Category:Computer and video game characters. The subcategories at the top, as well as the articles listed below that. I've done some of the articles at the bottom, so that will save you some time. RobJ1981 22:22, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
- Well as I was looking through some articles, I noticed plenty didn't even talk pages. Here is another category that should provide many untagged CVG articles: Category:Computer and video game genres. Lots of sub-cats as well. I think this could go faster, if more people used AWB. I would use AWB, but I'm trying to cut back on Wikipedia.. I spend too much time here. RobJ1981 08:15, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

- Well here is a pretty big category with lots of sub-cats (many untagged articles to find I bet): Category:Computer and video games. Don't feel pressured to do all of these at once (unless AWB is quick), I'm just posting them so you know about them. RobJ1981 06:34, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Goldeneyesource.png
[edit]This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Goldeneyesource.png. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sandstein 23:27, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Hi Jacoplane! I see that you have just removed the oldest entry from Template:In the news. I have left a comment about this edit at Template talk:In the news. Most of the time it's just maintenance or glaring errors that I feel compelled to fix. There are certain articles for both Bond and CVG I look at, but I haven't checked my watchlist since maybe September of last year. :/ I'm trying. Orphaned fair use image (Image:Openarena logo.gif)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Openarena logo.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. - In the Career section, the third para (which talks about the single L'Alize) can be expanded to speak of her other two singles from the first album.
- In the same way, coverage of her second album could be expanded to two or three paragraphs.
- Rather than having the information about her tour/live mentioned in passing, we can have a paragraph or two speaking about accumulated statistics about the concert attendances, promotion as well as market stats about the live album.
And if the section becomes too large, we can split the section into two subsections - one for studio albums and the other for live performances, and can throw in info regarding her non-tour performances as well. Also, two-three paragraphs per album seems to me as a good way to set up the prelude to the albums' own articles.
If you agree with the necessity, I will start working on it (since I was lying low for quite sometime, I may not be in a good position to judge what path other editors' are taking for this article, and thats why I am asking for your opinion; I am not seeing much work done, though :D). And if you need any help converting the inline refs to cite webs, just tell me. Regards, --soumসৌমোyasch 19:23, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- On other thoughts, the page will undergo quite a significant restructuring once her new album comes out. So, it may not be a bad idea not to disturb it till then (which, I hope, is not too far, btw :P). What do you think? --soumসৌমোyasch 18:56, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
