Your username
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Jacobacademy", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, service, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually (not your role), such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".
Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, service, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. Alternatively, you can just create a new account and use that for editing. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. jlwoodwa (talk) 05:56, 4 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Jlwoodwa it does not represent any specific company or organization, merely that this account exists for educational purposes. Jacobacademy (talk) 15:15, 4 July 2024 (UTC)
- In that case, there's no problem with your username. Thanks for clearing that up. jlwoodwa (talk) 01:47, 6 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Jlwoodwa Hey, how do I create a user page for myself? I don't know if I'm allowed to do it myself, and I have some restrictions that make it so that I can't use the teahouse. Jacobacademy (talk) 19:14, 7 July 2024 (UTC)
- You're certainly allowed to create a user page for yourself; in fact, you're generally the only person who should. If you're concerned about what you're allowed to do with it, you may want to read Wikipedia:User pages §§ What may I have in my user pages? and What may I not have in my user pages?.
- If you click on the red Jacobacademy link in your signature (or the one in this sentence), you should see an empty text box. When you press Publish page, the contents of that box will become your user page. jlwoodwa (talk) 03:16, 10 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Jlwoodwa I am in the app, and when I click on the link, a drop-down menu appears. Jacobacademy (talk) 23:11, 10 July 2024 (UTC)
- Ah, that'll explain it. According to User:Clovermoss/Mobile editing, it's simply impossible to create a new page in the app. My condolences if that's your only option. To work around that issue, I can create it for you, and then you should be able to edit it. jlwoodwa (talk) 00:40, 11 July 2024 (UTC)
