Grant Feedback

Hi Jackson- Grant is looking good. Will the grant reviewers go over to the idea lab description to learn more about the project? I think the project map is a key component in the project description and should probably be included in some form in the grant application. With that the reader will get a better sense of how the project components interrelate. Gabrielm199 (talk) 01:38, 25 September 2013 (UTC)

Gabrielm199, thanks! I believe I added the full project map just now; let me know if you're thinking of something else! --Jackson Peebles (talk) 04:59, 25 September 2013 (UTC)

Good evening

Just checking in so that you know i haven't died or something like that, ha ha. This past month has been a blur. 6 days of jury duty turned into 3 weeks of jury duty, and that was just the straw that broke the camels back. No actually the straw that broke the camels back was losing my job while serving Jury duty. Anyhow, I am slowly (very) working on my practical. I shall keep you posted. I have created a subpage here, so I can keep track of the items I complete as I go. Feel free to peek whenever you want. Or you can wait till the end. Whichever you prefer. Hope all is going well with you Jackson! Thank you so much for allowing me to squeeze this in when I can. Tattoodwaitress (talk) 04:27, 3 October 2013 (UTC)

Request for Adoption

Hello Jackson, I am a relative newbie here and would like tobe adopted by you if you have the time. N8ACU https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:N8acu/About_you#Hey.2C_it.27s_Me.21_N8ACU N8ACU 23:40, 8 October 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by N8acu (talkcontribs)

N8acu, I'd be happy to help. Why don't you start by telling me a bit about what you've done on Wikipedia, so far, and what you're interested in learning? --Jackson Peebles (talk) 18:23, 10 October 2013 (UTC)

Thank you Jackson-- My first question is about links. I am wondering if there is a reason when an outbound link set up on a page why isn't "Target_blank" used so that a new tab or browser page opens? This seems to me a more friendly way of adding links so that the person who is doing research on Wiki wont lose the page that they were on and will be able to comeback to it easily. Is there some rule that dis allows this practice? This also seems to me to be a good idea with links that take the person to other Wiki pages. Don't forget to sign your talkpage posts

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --Orange Mike | Talk 15:31, 15 October 2013 (UTC)

My practical

Good evening Jackson, I am working on the "bring one article to GA or FA status" and wondering just how far off I might be with it. Would you take a look? It is Safetyville USA. I have another little bit of pretty good info i would like to add but looking for some sources. The info is so old that i am having a difficult time with the adequate ref part of it. I would appreciate some feedback on it that would great. I actually started the "upgrade" of this article awhile back. I also drove to the place and took the images. Feed back on those too would be wonderful. Thank you. Tattoodwaitress (talk) 04:22, 25 October 2013 (UTC)

Twinkle instructional video

Hi Jackson. I was just giving WP:TW a once-over, and noticed you had added your Twinkle video tutorial to this page. I just had some comments after watching the video:

  • The sound level is very very low, or else it feels like you are speaking very softly. Could you possibly please amplify the volume of the sound track?
  • It doesn't always make it clear when CSD, PROD and XFD should be used. Even just one sentence about where CSD, PROD and XFD are appropraite would have been good. New users to Wikipedia are presumably the target audience of these video tutorials and they may need to be reminded of the situations in which these deletion venues are appropriate. If you ever do a "second take" of this video, you could consider adding this in.
  • When making an instructional video, it helps to have a script so you know exactly what points you are going to make and what you are going to mention. That would help to speed up the pace of the video and eliminate hesitation.

Thanks for taking the initiative to make these videos! — This, that and the other (talk) 09:47, 19 November 2013 (UTC)
