User talk:Jackson Dutra/Gender separation in Judaism/Bibliography
I am thinking of inserting this paragraph below in my article right in the introduction because I feel that the opening is vague and lacks additional information to explain why there is a gender separation within Judaism. I want some ideas to extend the subject a little. The original is as follow:
In Judaism, especially in Orthodox Judaism, there are a number of settings in which men and women are kept separate in order to conform with various elements of halakha and to prevent men and women from mingling. Other forms of Judaism rarely separate genders any more than secular western society.
Below is what I propose: In Judaism, especially in Orthodox Judaism, there are a number of settings in which men and women are kept separate in order to conform with various elements of halakha and to prevent men and women from mingling. Other forms of Judaism rarely separate genders any more than secular western society. One of the reasons women are kept apart is that, within Halakhah's culture, the female is seen as a type of temptation or distraction contributing to men deviating from moral principles, according to Halakhah. Women are sexualized, which feeds sinful fantasies in men's minds and leads them to moral and spiritual decay.[1]
