I did finally

watch Bridge over the River Kwai at your suggestion. I must say I am glad I finally did. But although Lean (Brief Encounter, Lawrence of Arabia, Doctor Zhivago) is one of my favourite directors, I did not care for the theme of the movie, which was far too cynical, or Holden's character. Only the utter humiliation of the Japanese commander and the last-second redemption of Guinness's character saved the film. I don't much mind conflicted characters, but Holden was an unmitigated arse. (Will you believe wikipedia's spell checker finds "arse" misspelt?!?!) Oh, he was an arse alright. Holden was good at playing arses; I assume you've seen his Oscar-winning performance in Stalag 17. But I'd watch 'Kwai' again tomorrow if the opportunity presented itself. Curiously, although Alec Guinness is also one of my all-time favourites, his Oscar-winning turn did not impress me as much as Holden and Hayakawa. Horses for courses. The OP could have found that (or maybe not, if Google is censored in China). I was about to ask the OP what context he was thinking of, and then it occurred to me that could be a slippery slope. Rodriguez has acquired various nicknames, plays on his standard nickname "A-Rod". Sometimes we know too much. Put yourself in the shoes of someone who had never heard this word before - like me, for example. As far as I am concerned, there is no problem simply mentioning the word. It's not like WP is using it pejoratively towards anyone. There are probably worse things said. I must tell you that when I was a young'un, WWII was recent enough that the characterizations of the enemies were still current. When we played with toy soldiers we would draw lots, so to speak, to see who played the Allies and who played the "Japs". ESB and NTSB aircraft reports

Hi

As promised, there is a list of all incidents in New York from the NTSB database between 01/01/1962 and 01/01/1968. If you click on "Location" at the top of the column it is sortable. I can't see anything there that mentions a forced landing, but the reports from 1960 to 1980 are fairly limited, as there were also news reports of a "young man" doing an emergency landing on the George Washington Bridge which does not appear on the NTSB database.

The ASIAS database is being updated, but there is currently a gap between 1939 and 1965, so it is not that helpful :¬(
