The College football Barnstar | ||
I hereby award Jackrm with this College football barnstar as a reminder that at some point or other we all make a mistake on a talk page. :) faithless (speak) 11:06, 1 September 2007 (UTC) |
- Well, I was looking for the most random one I could find, and since you're a Brit...haha. But no problem, it was well earned! faithless (speak) 11:13, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
Oh, I didn't know anyone really played it over there. I know it's a fairly popular sport in Mexico and Japan, and of course Canada and Australia have very similar sports, but NFL Europe was pretty much an unmitigated disaster. But yeah, rugby is pretty similar (I've never played, but know enough about to know they have a lot in common). :P Banned, you say? faithless (speak) 11:22, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
- True enough. But (and don't get me wrong, I know rugby is a very rough game), but I think you'd be hard pressed to find a more brutal and dangerous sport than American football. I don't know how much you've seen of it, but if you haven't seen much this video is a good place to start. Enjoy. :) faithless (speak) 11:36, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
Very true. It's not really fair to compare the sports, they may be similar in some respects but they have very different styles of play and different objectives. You might as well be comparing football with football. :P faithless (speak) 11:45, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
- Haha indeed I do. Not MLS so much (though I did go to see Beckham last month :P), but I do follow the Premiership. Thank God for Fox Soccer Channel. We don't get all the games, but typically five or six each weekend. And games from Serie A and La Ligue and stuff, but I don't follow them at all. I wish it was bigger over here; it's definitely growing, but is still far behind football, baseball and basketball. But once I'm done with school I plan on living n England for a while, so I imagine I'll be able to get my fill. :) faithless (speak) 11:59, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
Well, both places have their advantages, I think. But I imagine it's probably more interesting living in Europe than in America. I do love my country, and there are some great things about it. And being from California, I can definitely see why just about everybody in the world wants to live there. :P But I'm ready to experience something else for a while. And I'd like to know why my ancestors were so keen on getting the hell out of there. haha And hey, at least I already speak the language! I've never been over there, so it would be hard for me to say, but I've always had a soft spot for Canterbury. I'd like to get a job teaching American history over there while simultaneously getting a degree in British history, then eventually come back here to teach. That's the plan for now, at least. haha faithless (speak) 12:11, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
- Ah yes, the chav. Well hopefully they'll be gone by the time I get there. And for that matter, the emos probably will be, too. It's strange that you mention your blood like that; I had a friend who, while we were in college (or university, if you will) did a year abroad at Oxford. And he came back fairly disappointed, telling me that over there people care much more about your family and where you come from than they do here. My father's family came from Poland only about a hundred years or so ago, but my mother's family is English (with a bit of Welsh mixed in), and they came here in the late-1500s to early-1600s. I don't know where they were from, but could probably find out. They were pretty well-to-do people, we still have all these old documents, wills, letters, that sort of thing. So where are you from, and where should I avoid? :P faithless (speak) 12:30, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
Not at all, the essay is much appreciated! Castleton seems like quite the quaint little town, exactly the sort of thing you don't find over here, unfortunately (save for about three places, New England, New York-Philadelphia, and Virginia). I take it you're a Sheffield United supporter? I started out following Arsenal, but now I pretty much root for any teams with Americans, hoping they do us proud. :P Oh, and Sheffield Wednesday, just because they have probably the best name in sports. Too bad we don't get to see any Championship games over here. haha (I just realized you're just as likely to support SW as you are SU, I don't know why I jumped to that conclusion). faithless (speak) 13:02, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
- Well hooligans or no, football fans are definitely a classier bunch overall than American football fans. :P Actually those are just fans of the Oakland Raiders, the team I follow. They have a well deserved reputation for being the meanest and nastiest team around, and their fans are no better (if you couldn't tell by the looks of them haha). faithless (speak) 13:26, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
That's something all right, but at least they only had to worry about the other team! haha Well if I'm not mistaken, the Tottenham-Fulham game is about to come on, so I'm off to root for my boys at Craven Cottage (the ones who are still standing, that is). Godspeed, Brian McBride. :'( haha Cheers! faithless (speak) 13:59, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

its all good, I guess I didn't detect the humor in the comment. I thought someone was telling me off for wanting to hear the Album as early as I could. of course I know that musicians lose money when I don't buy their music. Me being a musician myself, but CO&CA has gotten my money in the form of T-shirts, Concert Tickets, and the Armory Wars comics I buy, its my personal opinion that Claudio's not hurting at the moment. --Ksharpe126 12:45, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi I noticed you gave this user a warning of sorts for vandalising my page, well he did it again, have a look at the history on my user page, I reported him again, but was hoping you could take a person look, he has also vandalised the michael jackson talk page and made comments on other user pages, check his user history. Friday night project dates
Hi I noticed that you and an unregistered poster reverted some of the dates on The Friday Night Project. (For example you changed 4 February for February 4) You had done it once and the other person does it a lot. I believe the dates should stay as they are as Firstly, other dates in the episode guide were written as 4 February and I wanted to make it balanced (I'm not sure of the right word). Also, This is a British show, and that's how I see a lot of dates written in the UK, such as the one on your user page. I wanted to let you know, as I wanted to be as polite as possible and maybe you can write something in response to my Dates post in the FNP discussion page so that others can see.

Reason I do is because it is not taught in schools much - so I go out to find out. Have found out alot. It is my thing and I know here I am coming from. So I do not think I own an article- - just get frustarted when people put POV on it. Hartram 17:48, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

Okay
Then how can I add Blur to the England Music section because I believe that they have made a huge constribution to England music and have sold enough albums to be on the list of musicians that have been the biggest sellers. Why in the world is the Spice Girls there and not Blur? That makes no sense what so ever. So can YOU add Blur since I can't please? They deserve to have some credit in English music. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.244.46.240 (talk) 06:15, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
First of all, I didn't say that Blur was one of this biggest sellers in the world, I said that they were one of the biggest sellers in England and that they have made a huge contribution to English music. I havent seen any contributions that the Spice Girls have made... but to be honest, I'm willing to be mature about this whole situation and squash it and say that I really am sorry that I added that without "talking" about it first. I'm so new to this stuff so I really don't know much about Wikipedia. I thought that if it says "edit", that you can put whatever you wanted on there. But I wasn't trying to change information or whatever. So, I'm sorry for any problems I've caused you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.244.46.240 (talk) 07:33, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

About changes in "Catalan people"
Hi, I proposed the deletion of that map in the discussion page as it confuses idiomatic areas with ethnic ones, and it also shows data that is distinct from that of the infobox, and thus it is misleading. Nobody argued against so I deleted it. Do I have to create an account or something to make editions? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.57.126.37 (talk) 23:54, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Re:Incubus
I noticed that in one of the album sections it said they moved to a beautiful mansion to do it. Beautiful is generally a pc so I figured that perhaps there might be others so I tagged it so editors interested in and or knowledgeable about the band would be on the lookout since fans often right the articles about the bands and somtimes inadvertently put in pcs

Jack, just wanted to drop a line thanking you for the kind comments. I know the bit about writing, it's one of those things I'm always planning on getting to, but then wind up going of in tangents elsewhere. - I had actually seen your review and will be writing my own on you shortly (cue ominous music). I disagree with the comment that vandal fighting is easy. If you do it like I do it, it's thankless, monotonous work that requires patience and is one of the biggest possible contributions to this project. What good is an encyclopedia with a bunch of "PENIS"'s, "tyler luvs ahsley" and misinformation on it? ;) But good luck to you with school, my friend, and keep up the good work! Question :)
Hi Jack, I was wondering: I'm trying to find out where a picture is from, but I'm not sure on how to insert the pic onto wikipedia- I want to ask about it and post it on the reference desk. If I were to send it to you via email, would you help me post it onto the ref desk? Or, if you might know where the picture is from (I doubt it, but what the hell :-D), you could tell me? Thanks! (^_^) --PolarWolf ( sign ) 00:36, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
- The picture is of a man pointing in the direction of the camera with a comedic/angry look on his face- I suspect that it's from an old television show or something, since it has that aged feel. I'll try reading through those pages you listed and see if it's worth it to go through all this trouble :) Thank you --PolarWolf ( sign ) 23:14, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Jack, dear, I'm truly, truly sorry about the belated reply, as I was away most of the weekend (and trust me, what afrantic weekend this has been to me! ;) In any case, I'd just like to know if the unpleasant accusations about sockpuppetry are still causing you any sort of trouble, Should this be the case, please notify me immediately; I can vouch for both you and Jack Merridew, because I'm familiar with you both, and i've known you for a long time now. I don't forget, I also owe you an email, my friend; please, be patient, dear, I'll try and visit you mailbox very, very soon ;) Love, Phaedriel - 09:04, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
Wow
Thanks for the barnstar, never expected to get one. Sorry I don't leave edit summaries but I figure/hope by now others monitoring the year articles know what I'm doing. (I'm pretty lazy). Take care. --TM 18:47, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Humourous
Hi, and thanks for your templated warning regarding this edit made under my AWB account, User:Spellmaster. However, 'humourous' is not a correct spelling in any dialect of English, see here for details. Best regards and thanks for caring about spelling. --John 22:01, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

Hey Thanks For Signing Mine I'm Friends with User:Polarwolf and she said to sign a bunch of peoples guestbooks Summerluvin
- Hi Jack, about that- I adopted her (Summerluvin) because she's a good friend of mine and she's new, but I'm not completely fluent with everything around here, you know? In view of the fact that my adopter is currently busy with something at the moment, would it be alright with you if she were to ask you a few questions when needed? Of course she'd ask me first, but you know, just in case I'm too busy and whatnot. Hope to hear from you soon! --PolarWolf ( sign ) 18:48, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
