RE: Phalium articles
[edit]I have posted your concern at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject_Gastropods#Phalium_articles. The Gastropod project members will respond to it. I am just the bot operator. Please continue the discussion there. Thanks. — Ganeshk (talk) 22:09, 15 August 2010 (UTC)
- The approval was for creating gastropod articles based on WoRMS database. Conus was the first genus that was created using the bot. The basic bot concept is the same for all families under the Gastropoda. — Ganeshk (talk) 22:23, 15 August 2010 (UTC)
I read the function overview. It says, "
Function overview: Gastropod project is looking to use automation to create about 600 new species stub articles under the genus Conus. The stubs will use the World Register of Marine Species as reference."
Where does it show the function is for gastropod articles, not just the 600 conus articles? (JaRoad (talk) 22:26, 15 August 2010 (UTC))
I asked about it here [1].
- Hi JaRoad, I don't mind you asking at the bot approval page. A bot approval is needed for every new task the bot is doing. I don't see myseIf olf requesting bot approval for every family article under the Gastropoda. Let's see what the discussion gives. — Ganeshk (talk) 22:47, 15 August 2010 (UTC)
You don't mention that in your request. You mention creating 650 Conus articles. If you know anything about gastropods and taxonomic data bases you know damn well there's a huge difference between creating 650 Conus articles from WoRMS and uploading all of WoRMS into Wikipedia as species articles created by a bot.
If you know nothing or little about gastropods and taxonomic data bases you should not have been charged with this task in the first place. JaRoad (talk) 22:53, 15 August 2010 (UTC)
- I just need the technical knowledge to run the bot. The gastropod team members guide me as to what families needs creating. The bot will run the families once the team approves a family. — Ganeshk (talk)
That might work. Please give me the link, then, to gastropod editors' family approvals. You have speices incorrect in other genera, also. With the names of the family experts I can request experts for these genera to go through and correct all your wrong species articles. Do you create lists of genera by family as the bot creates articles? JaRoad (talk) 23:15, 15 August 2010 (UTC)
- Here is the link to the project approval for the clade that the bot is currently working on. I maintain a list of all the articles that the bot created here, User:Ganeshbot/Animalia/History. It has created 15000 articles so far. — Ganeshk (talk) 01:50, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
- You mention here that you had created a new article. Can you please provide a link to that article? — Ganeshk (talk) 02:18, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
I thought your page says you're an administrator on Wikipedia? Or is this something wrong with history? Can't you just click on my contibutions and then look at article space. Oh, well, here's a link to my contribution set to show you articles that I've contributed to, and it has an "N" beside the new article that I created. [2] Not meaning to be insulting, but it seems you should know the basics around Wikiepdia before you claim administrator rights. JaRoad (talk) 02:23, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
- The reason I asked is that you mentioned that you had created a mollusk article. The article that you link is a stream in New Mexico. Please keep the discussion civil. Thanks. — Ganeshk (talk) 02:26, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
If I said I created a mollusk article that is incorrect. Please quote and link to it, and I will change my words. I apologize for saying I had created a mollusk article, when I had not. I am trying to add some information about geochronoloy and geomagnetic reversals, but I am typing with bad arms, so it is very difficult. But, yes, I grant you would not find information about a mollusk article I created, because I have only created mollusk articles through submitting them for creation. JaRoad (talk) 02:31, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
- I quote from your post, "I was surprised by some of the gastropod species listed next to a new article I created". I misread that to mean that you created a mollusk article. I thought you were looking at a species category listing. I now understand that you may be looking at recent changes or the "new articles" list. — Ganeshk (talk) 02:37, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
I forgot about that. Yes, I was looking at a list, somewhere, of new article created, not recent changes, but just new articles. A bunch of the articles the bot created were created at the same time I posted my Jaramillo Creek article. JaRoad (talk) 02:49, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
- Okay, that was the New pages listing. — Ganeshk (talk) 02:50, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
- User:JoJan has responded to your questions here, Wikipedia talk:WikiProject_Gastropods#Phalium_articles. Can you please post on the project talk page the links to the articles that you have problem with and also what you think is wrong with them? Thanks. — Ganeshk (talk) 10:20, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
I've been told to shut up elsewhere, and JoJan seems more interested in scoring points about my bad spelling. I've also read what Wikipedia does to editors who report bad bots. No wonder you simply ignored the anybot situation and just did what you wanted granting yourself whatever approval you felt necessary. I be shut up. Good bye bot operator. 02:16, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
- Please do not misconstrue the facts. I've left a new message for you on ANI, but I've never told you to shut up.— Dædαlus Contribs 19:57, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
I never used all caps, so I won't misconstrue if you stop lying. In essence, you commanded me to shut up in an bossy tone. Then you said your post was about my using all caps. I didn't. Your carelessness about factsx and your determination to make this about me personally shut your cloak of authority, so take your own advice and drop it.
- Just FYI, I think this edit is what Daedulus969 is referring to. — Ganeshk (talk) 16:11, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
Your recent edits
[edit]Hello. Apologies
[edit]I apologize for suggesting that your account might be suspect, but why is this current account of yours brand new if you have "edited with you, Invertzoo, and you, JoJan for a few years"? Why do you have nothing at all on your new user page, whereas you could instead have a short note that mentions your previous identity and would let everyone know that you are not in reality a new editor? What was your previous user name by the way? I assume that in reality you have nothing to hide, so it really makes more sense to let people know what is going on, in order to avoid confusion and misunderstanding.
Since you are a longtime Wikipedia editor, I would expect you to make your best effort to "Assume good faith" and to use "Civility" rather than being combative right off the bat. When I first looked at your talk page, in just a few messages you had already said things (most of which you have now erased, but remain in the edit history) such as: "you know damn well" and "you should not have been charged with this task in the first place." , "you should know the basics around Wikiepdia before you claim administrator rights", as well as: "I've been told to shut up elsewhere, and JoJan seems more interested in scoring points about my bad spelling. I've also read what Wikipedia does to editors who report bad bots. No wonder you simply ignored the anybot situation and just did what you wanted granting yourself whatever approval you felt necessary. I be shut up. Good bye bot operator." Then there was also, "I won't misconstrue if you stop lying. In essence, you commanded me to shut up in an bossy tone. Then you said your post was about my using all caps. I didn't. Your carelessness about factsx and your determination to make this about me personally shut your cloak of authority, so take your own advice and drop it." These comments are all rather extreme and inappropriate, contain "ad hominem" attacks, etc.
We would be glad to have you as a contributing project member because you seem to have an interest in gastropods, and you seem to care a lot about the quality of our articles. We are certainly ready to work with you if you are ready to work with us. Wikipedia is all about collaboration, as I am sure you understand. If however you can only "play rough" and can't "play nice", then you may find it hard to get on very well anywhere in Wikipedia, at least in the long run.
You said you had "bad arms". Are you perhaps in pain? If so, then you have my sympathy. I know from my own experience that pain can cause impatience and crankiness.
Best wishes to you and again I apologize if I insulted you. Invertzoo (talk) 02:35, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
- I haven't erased or deleted anything on my talk page. I also haven't used all caps and screamed at anyone as I've been accused of. One of the most interesting things about "civility" and "assume good faith" on wikipedia is it never includes a cease-fire on accusations from established editors.
- My tilda key is broken and the signature button won't work with th e device I'm using. The bot will tisign my posts if they are left alone. —Preceding unsigned comment added by JaRoad (talk • contribs) 03:05, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

Your user page
[edit]Wow, nice swipe at the community on your user page. I'd suggest you remove it. A redlink is better than an insult that tars a lot of editors. 69.181.249.92 (talk) 23:26, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
Interested in gastropods
[edit]Hi JaRoad, I am giving you these flowers. I hope you are doing well. From what you say it seems you have some interest in species of herbivorous marine gastropods, and wondered if perhaps you would like to start (or add to) some articles on the taxa that you are interested in? If not that, then is there other gastropod-related editing that you would like to do? Best, Invertzoo (talk) 14:23, 8 October 2010 (UTC)
Cookies?
[edit]I thought you might enjoy this plate of delicious cookies. Hope you are doing well, Invertzoo (talk) 23:33, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

Goldfish for you!
[edit]Invertzoo has given you a goldfish! Goldfish promote WikiLove and hopefully this one has made your day much better. Spread the WikiLove by giving someone else a goldfish, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past or a good friend.
Give someone a goldfish by adding {{subst:Goldfish}} to their talk page with a friendly message.
Removal of polemical statements from your user page
[edit]What may I not have in my user pages? states:
- "Polemical statements unrelated to Wikipedia, or statements attacking or vilifying groups of editors or persons (these are generally considered divisive and removed, and reintroducing them is often considered disruptive)."
I have taken the liberty of removing such a statement from your user page. Invertzoo has extended an olive branch a couple of times, and unless I am missing something, you never responded. That wasn't very nice.
Please read this.
