Your edits to National Maximum Speed Law
[edit]My edit was an attempt to balance the viewpoints in the article. The current article states (with no citations to support it):
"The law was widely disregarded by motorists. Most states subversively opposed the law, ranging from proposing deals for exemption from it to minimizing speeding penalties. This cap was intended to reduce gasoline consumption by 2.2% in response to the 1973 oil crisis. However, net fuel savings were calculated by the United States Department of Transportation at 1%, and independent studies found savings as low as half of one percent."
Now THAT also promotes a particular POV -- I merely presented the reasons stated by Congress for passing the law. There is plenty of debate and conflicting "reports and statistics" about how well it worked or did not work. Both sides of that debate should be present in the article (with citations, of course. My addition had citation, but you have deleted that and I don't have time to dig them up again.

I reverted your edits to National Maximum Speed Law. You are promoting a particular POV by replacing fact-based statements with your opinion. Novasource (talk) 02:38, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
