Re: גאדינו-הספאןעל

[edit]

I don't believe you can have a final-ן in the middle of a word. --217.140.96.140 (talk) 10:19, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for pointing that out to me! Note that Ladino doesn't follow the rules of Hebrew orthography when using Hebrew script, however nun, and the other 4 letters with differing medial and final forms, do have both forms used typically. I will try and find a source for this spelling, but most likely it will have to be changed to גאדינו-הספאןעל. JSBrowand13 (talk) 14:39, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  1. I think you need to change the final form to medial (see above). I don't really know of any situation of any Jewish language routinely using end forms in the middle. (Caveat: there is one place, I think in Isaiah, where the Masoretic text places a final-Mem in the middle of a word. But that is a specific Mesorah.)
  2. I wonder if I can ask you to go over to your pages at the Judeo-Spanish/Judesmo/Ladino Wikipedia and clean a couple of things up. (I'm not fond of the name "Ladino" myself, but it's the official name here. I'm not picking a fight.) In particular:
    • You have an ordinary user page, in the ordinary user space, at lad:Usador:JSBrowand13.
    • You have another user page at lad:Usuador:JSBrowand13. I'm not sure if you did this intentionally, with respect to the spelling reforms (or spelling conventions, let's say) that you favor. But on that Wikipedia, the "User" name space is "Usador". And that makes the page at "Usuador" effectively a mainspace page. And since as a mainspace page it is non-encyclopedic, it really needs to be deleted.
Let me make the following request: Go over, merge anything from the "Usuador" page that you want to keep into the "Usador" page. Although it is also not really supported by the rules, I'm willing to leave a redirect at the "Usuador" page if you feel strongly about it. On the other hand, if I haven't heard from you in a month, I will just merge the pages myself. I'm giving you a whole month, given that it's summertime; I think that's fair.
Thanks for your cooperation. StevenJ81 (talk) 16:38, 22 July 2015 (UTC) (Administrator at ladwiki)[reply]
I must have made a duplicate page and realized my spelling mistake! You can go ahead and delete the "Usuador" page. As for the Judesmo spelling mistake, can we do the same, that is, delete the article with the end form nun and keep the new one? First, shavua tov and tzom kal.
Second, your time stamp was really peculiar. See what I struck through? I don't quite get how that happened, unless you cut and pasted your signature from a different place. I fixed that.
Third, duplicate page at ladwiki is now deleted. Thank you for your prompt cooperation.
Fourth, I don't actually know where this page with a medial "final-nun" is. I just commented on what I saw here. But if you tell me where the original to that is, I'll be glad to try to help you with it. StevenJ81 (talk) 03:16, 26 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

autopatrolled

[edit]

I have granted you the autopatrolled user-right, which will facilitate your contributions, because they will bypass our newpage patrolling. I'm doing this in view of your sound contributions, so the people who patrol new pages can save their time for what needs checking. This doesn't affect your editing otherwise. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Brawand family, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Unspunnen. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
