Speedy deletion nomination of Childbirth Connection
[edit]A tag has been placed on Childbirth Connection requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Philosopher Let us reason together. 04:56, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
- Hello. I didn't see this message in time, but I have now re-created Childbirth Connection with some appropriate stub tags and category tags. This was indeed the first article I had created. The speedy deletion was certainly a learning experience, and now I have found out a bit more about how to create an article stub. Hopefully this time, with better tags, the article will be expanded rather than deleted. JRtx (talk) 08:47, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
Changing capitalization in page name?
[edit]{{helpme}} Hello. I recently created a stub for a nonprofit organization called "Childbirth Connection." I realized just after I created the stub that it should really be at Childbirth Connection, not Childbirth connection. (It is a proper noun.) How do I change this capitalization? Thanks for your help. I am a longtime occasional wikipedia editor, but this is the first time I have created an article stub from scratch and I seem to be hitting some bumps in the road.
- You have to move the article to rename it; just go to the article and click 'Move' at the top. Change the new name, and explain why. If you have trouble, please ask again. Chzz ► 08:53, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
