First of all, thank you for your contribution to this, and other articles. However, please accept the advice you have been given which is well meant. If you still want to add the two people without articles then please seek agreement at Talk:Bhadrakali High School, Gokarna. TerriersFan (talk) 00:49, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
Hello,
I have added Bala T. Kuchinad and Prof. K. G. Naik. They deserve inclusion on merit.

Hello VMN,
Notable is the standard Wikipedia heading and should remain so. Generally, but not exclusively, notable alumni/people have Wikipedia articles but, if they do not, then at least their connection with the school/place/community/career should be sourced as should a claim to notability. Please do not add them back without agreement here. We would ask you to write about them on Wikipedia to identify them as Notable to Wikipedia. You may see several articles here on who are Notable to Wikipedia. We would look forward to seeing such articles on them to make the things simple. We will delete the names if we do not find articles on them. We thank for your wish to identify someone as notable.
We would also ask you to create an account on Wikipedia if you want to call someone Notable. Thanks.

[edit]Notability of D.K. Ray-Chaudhuri
[edit]A tag has been placed on D.K. Ray-Chaudhuri requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. gppande «talk» 08:51, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
- another admin quite rightly removed the speedy tag, since this mathematician is unquestionably notable--the Euler Medal is a major award and meets WP:PROF. But better documentation is needed. The award of that medal was almost certainly accompanied by at least a short article in a professional journal, and you should be able to find it and add it as a reference. We also need dates and universities for his career, a link to his web page, and a list of his major publications, with information about how often they have been cited. any science librarian should be able to help you with this. - Hi, I noticed you removed the tag for speedy deletion without following the procedure. If you think the article needs to remain - please put the hangon template as mentioned in the steps. DO NOT REMOVE the tag yourself. Let an admin decide on it. Thanks for your co-operation. --gppande «talk» 12:06, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
- another admin removed the speedy tag, for she thought the article asserted at least some degree of notability. But there's some more information needed--perhaps you could help. We need links to his web page, and information about the schools that are using his two textbooks. The actual research work appears to be cited a little too infrequently to demonstrate notability as a researcher, but two widely used textbooks might just fulfill WP:PROF. I've added a little information, see if you can add some more. I'd advise you to add this very quickly, before it gets nominated for regular deletion.DGG (talk) 00:52, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

- Howdy, I think Read is probably notable, 80 papers in respected journals. The article is just a stub, but one source that would help a lot is a basic biography, for instance from a 60th birthday conference, or some university newsletter. Do you know when he was born? It would make it easier to find 60th birthday sources if we knew what year he was born. JackSchmidt (talk) 12:59, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
Marking edits as "Minor"
[edit]Please remember to mark your edits as minor if (and only if) they genuinely are minor edits (see Help:Minor edit). Marking a major change as a minor one is considered poor etiquette. The rule of thumb is that only an edit that consists solely of spelling corrections, formatting changes, or rearranging of text without modifying content should be flagged as a 'minor edit.' Thank you. --DAJF (talk) 02:01, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
Flagging Arvind S. Nadkarni for further review
[edit]Hello, JRN08 … I recently encountered the article about Arvind S. Nadkarni and in my opinion, it either lacks sufficient Attribution that it satisfies the Notability criteria for Biographies, or it may violate the Conflict of interest guideline, or perhaps it violates a copyright.
I am considering tagging Arvind S. Nadkarni (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) for deletion according to the Deletion policy … I do not have time to examine the article in depth at the moment, and it may improve over time, in which case this warning was premature.
I have created this initial entry on your Talk page because you are either the original author of the article, or else a recent contributor to it; I will leave more detailed information regarding my specific concerns about the article on its Discussion page … please respond either there or on this Talk page, instead of on my Talk page, in order to avoid fragmenting the conversation.
Be sure to read Ownership of articles, and remember that Some Other Editors (including at least one administrator) may not share your opinion about the notability of the article's subject.
I do not mean to imply that your contribution is unappreciated … perhaps you should read Your first article … and remember, there was a time when I knew less about how Wikipedia works than you know right now. — Triwbe (talk) 21:44, 29 June 2008 (UTC).
Arvaind S. Nadkarni a stub.. I will leave this to Wikipedia, However we will have him on the school article as he was the student. I'm not the only contributor to the school article. I will clean up as per you said. Thanks.

Image copyright problem with Image:Lindsay Rego-2008 May.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading Image:Lindsay Rego-2008 May.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Sdrtirs (talk) 02:19, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Bharathi (film)
[edit]A tag has been placed on Bharathi (film) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Mayalld (talk) 12:22, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
