Welcome!

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia:

The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), such as at Wikipedia:Teahouse, please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( in the enhanced toolbar, or if you use the old "classic" toolbar) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. Drm310 🍁 (talk) 17:23, 14 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. While the advice you received at the Teahouse was good and accurate, our rules regarding paid editing were not mentioned. If you are being compensated to write an article, or expect to receive compensation, then you are required to disclose this fact. Please consult the page Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure to see if these rules apply to you, and if so, how to make the property mandatory disclosures. Thanks. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 17:28, 14 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, JLL87! Having an article declined at Articles for Creation can be disappointing. See you there! Robert McClenon (talk) 20:12, 3 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Robert, Do I need to completely remove all primary source references. I think otherwise the article has enough secondary sources. How is it that this article passes, yet it seems very promotional? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venmyn_Rand JLL87 (talk) 15:44, 9 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for reviewing my article. I have many third-party sources in my article, so I am struggling to understand what more can be done to improve it so that it may be accepted for submission. Please could you be more specific on which sections I need to change. Many thanks JLL87 (talk) 15:32, 9 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Submission

[edit]

Greetings. I was away from keyboard. For the question that you posted on my talkpage a few days ago, Robert McClenon has actually answered it. It was written on the submission. Your existing sources are not third party sources nor are they independent sources. There is a misconception here. Do read the link in blue about reliable sources. In essence, what you have cited are homepages and official websites, mostly in pdf files. Stay away from homepages and official websites, as they are primary sources, not third party sources. Cheers. EROS message 09:09, 10 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for replying. However, how is it that homepages and websites are not deemed third-party sources when such a page as the Venmyn Rand one includes many of these and yet it was published. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venmyn_Rand JLL87 (talk) 15:08, 10 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

South African Mineral Reporting Codes, which you submitted to Articles for creation, has been created.

You are more than welcome to continue making quality contributions to Wikipedia. If your account is more than four days old and you have made at least 10 edits you can create articles yourself without posting a request. However, you may continue submitting work to Articles for Creation if you prefer.

Thank you for helping improve Wikipedia!
