[edit]what was the message you left recently saying:
- No, you don't have to be Catholic to enter our school. Instead, you have to worship She of All Colours and of None - the dark goddess Takhisis.
i never wanted to go to any school like that, please clarify. and it was under my IP, i made a account to ask.- OMalley —Preceding unsigned comment added by OMalley (talk • contribs)
- It was only a joke. Someone, either you or someone else, asked on the reference desk or the help desk if you have to be Catholic to enter our school. I thought they had mistaken Wikipedia for the webpage of some school, so I just wanted to make a joke about it. — JIP | Talk 08:18, 3 November 2005 (UTC)

- Blocked for 24 hours. I'm going on a holiday to Sweden for the weekend, so I won't be available here until Monday morning. — JIP | Talk 11:49, 20 October 2005 (UTC)
Enjoy your trip. When you get back, could you please take another look at this afd, which you closed recently? It was for three closely-related articles, but you only deleted one of them; the other two are still hanging around and pointing at the closed afd. Thank you. —Cryptic (talk) 12:48, 20 October 2005 (UTC)
- Deleted. Thanks for letting me know. — JIP | Talk 13:42, 24 October 2005 (UTC)
I was about to nominate her for RfA, but then I saw you called it. So I'll poke you now and say Hurry Up! ;-) Redwolf24 (talk) 23:43, 21 October 2005 (UTC)
- Heh! August is TWO months ago... for some reason I thought it was three. So better wait a couple more weeks. November 15th is the magic day. Redwolf24 (talk) 23:44, 21 October 2005 (UTC)
- Actually, I don't really care who nominates JoanneB and GraemeL, as long as they get nominated. I'll be there gladly supporting both of them. — JIP | Talk 13:42, 24 October 2005 (UTC)
Just wanted to thank you for voting on my RfA. If you have any concerns over my actions please let me know. CambridgeBayWeather 23:18, 23 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit]How can light switches work backwards? -- Francs2000 17:17, 25 October 2005 (UTC)
- When you have to flip them down to switch the lights on, and flip them up to switch the lights off. Everyone knows up should be on and down should be off. — JIP | Talk 21:00, 25 October 2005 (UTC)
Thank you for supporting me in my RfA. I never thought I would get so much support! Thanks to your help, my nomination was the 10th most supported RfA in Wikipedia history. Now, please keep an eye out on me while I learn the new tools, ok? Thanks again! Titoxd(?!?) 18:01, 25 October 2005 (UTC)
-phobia
[edit]Article talk pages are used for discussions of articles. Please read and comment Talk:-phobia. But briefly repeating what was said there, the main principles of wikipedia are wikipedia:verifiability and notability. There are plenty of various lists in wikipedia, whohe inclusion is governed by these principles. Take List of webcomics as an example. What makes your phobias notable? Are they described in a psychiatry book? Is a notable person accused in yellow press of having a somethingphobia? You can take any noun in Greek, append "phobia", and there will be a 95% chance that at least one person on the earth sufferred at least a mild dislike of this "something". Once again. please continue this discussion where it belongs: at Talk:-phobia. mikka (t) 21:57, 25 October 2005 (UTC)

"All of the keep votes were obviously by sockpuppets".
None of those keep votes were by sockpuppets. the grand majority of them were made by new users (do not bite the newbies, remember?), and I, who voted a strong keep, am most certainly no sockpuppet. If you could please edit that deletion log summary, it would be much appreciated.
And as far as the article not being neccessary, I will never understand why or how it is okay to keep articles on each character from the movie Glitter, or seperate articles on "The Star-Spangled Banner" or "Santa Claus is Coming to Town", but this article gets deleted. I suppose if the same editors stayed at Wikipedia for a few months, posted the same article, and it got nominated for deletion, it would be kept since they have enough votes from "tenured" users? --65.112.154.91 13:42, 27 October 2005 (UTC)

— JIP | Talk 05:51, 28 October 2005 (UTC)
It doesn't make a huge difference, since the effect is generally the same, but I count exactly 50% keep votes, which is below consensus by anyone's standards. When closing, keep is not the same as no consensus, even if they have the same end results--despite what you said at the top, closing as keep asserts that there is a consensus for keeping it as it is and effectively against merging/redirecting. This can be important; I know that if I came across a page I thought I might want to suggest a merge/redirect on, and noticed that it had gotten a keep consensus in a recent VFD, I would be less likely to bring it up. --Aquillion 18:25, 28 October 2005 (UTC)
- I'm sorry about that. I had counted many keep votes and some merge votes, but not a single delete vote. And having seen the Luxembourgism article, I thought it was a good article about a notable phenomenon and wanted to keep it myself. I may have let my feelings interfere with my admin duties. Is there any way I can change the result of the AfD debate? — JIP | Talk 18:28, 28 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit]I want to know what you, an admin thinks about this article. I've asked if someone would just fix the article. And no one raised their hand. It seems like they merely want to delet the article. I was wondering what you thought of the article? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cherryrain (talk • contribs)
- I think the article is rather well written and asserts her notability. But as an admin closing AfD discussion it is not my place to express my personal opinions on the article, but rather to find out the consensus of what other Wikipedians think of it. Because of the length of the debate, I have asked on Wikipedia talk:Articles for deletion for a more experienced admin to look at it. I've only been an admin for less than two months. — JIP | Talk 18:47, 30 October 2005 (UTC)
I agree, but even if it was written poorly i see no one trying to fis it rather erase it. One member is constantly erasing all the information. If that is vandilism i dont know what is. I think this is all personal to them. Everytime information is found rebutting their claims, they find a reason why it isn't solid. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cherryrain (talk • contribs)
- Cherryrain, please sign your name by typing ~~~~ after your post. Continuing not to sign your comments makes you look unprofessional. I, too, dislike the constant removal of information. While the AfD debate is going on, the information in the article should be preserved, whether or not it is real and verified. Continuing to remove it disrupts the judging process. If the information is real, the article will be kept. If it's not, it will be deleted. I take no stance on the correctness of the information and wish that some other admin would close the discussion. — JIP | Talk 21:19, 30 October 2005 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Paul Komarek
[edit]Hi. Since you were the admin who put Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Charles Komarek put of its misery, I thought you might like to take care of this one, too. Golgothian Sylex
[edit]Why did you delete Golgothian Sylex? There were two votes for "delete" and two votes for "keep", huh? --Slobad 14:48, 2 November 2005 (UTC)
- As I said on the AfD debate closing note, the keep votes were from you, who seem to have a specific interest in Magic: The Gathering, and thus possibly biased, and an obvious sock puppet. If you do not agree with the result, you can always file an undeletion request at WP:VFU. — JIP | Talk 15:27, 2 November 2005 (UTC)
- Andrew Levine is obviously biased against Magic: The Gathering (at least, he's biased against articles about Magic: The Gathering storylines), so his vote shouldn't count either. Vestdan isn't a sock puppet; he's a user on mtgsalvation. --Slobad 00:01, 3 November 2005 (UTC)

You closed this debate as no consensus, 6 keep, 13 merge. While I can accept 68.4% merge over keep might be considered no consensus by some (not me), I actually count 5 keep votes, 14 merge votes, and the nomination, which definitely wasn't keep. JPD (talk) 14:36, 4 November 2005 (UTC)
I think the "redirect and delete" vote just meant "keep the title as a redirect to this other thing, but don't merge the content". Bearcat 19:34, 4 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit]JIP, I am greatly flattered but I am still learning the ropes. my talk page
[edit]Can i archive things that I want to and put them in order in my archive? I think that you even do the same just checking because there was some issue last time. I feal I definatly can and also "This page is 49 kilobytes long. This may be longer than is preferable; see article size." --Adam1213 Talk+ 05:36, 7 November 2005 (UTC)
- I try to have messages in order by time on my talk page, and when my talk page exceeds 30 sections, I archive the oldest 30 sections. As far as I remember the issue with the last time was that you seemed to be archiving messages out of order, leaving both older and newer messages on your talk page. — JIP | Talk 05:58, 7 November 2005 (UTC)
