Speedy deletion of Mixei

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Mixei requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 23:15, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Club Con

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Club Con, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Club Con. Thanks for moving "Gnu unifont" to "GNU Unifont". "GNU Unifont" appeared to be a redirection to another page so I didn't want to change it without knowing what would be affected. I had asked another editor to change it.--Ph9000 (talk) 05:24, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

This is probably the most comprehensive debate on the topic, though there have been several more. In short, the compromise solution over the debate is a project-specific variant of WP:ENGVAR. The NHL, and North American sources, do not use diacritics at all in player names. They aren't English characters. It was agreed that for NHL related articles, the NHL's/North American format would be used - no diacritics. Exactly as the names are spelled on the back of their jerseys. For European and international articles, diacritics can be used. Skudrafan1 (talk) 15:26, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I can tolerate it, as long as it's limited to articles about NHL teams and rankings. The articles about the players themselves should spell their names correctly. JIP | Talk 16:38, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. Skudrafan1 (talk) 20:25, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Succubus cat sacrifice.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Succubus cat sacrifice.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 06:28, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect of Leonard hochstein

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Leonard hochstein, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Leonard hochstein is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Leonard hochstein, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Amiga WHDLoad "Completely wrong"

[edit]

Dear Mr.JIP, you wrote:

I take offense at your comment that my version of WHDLoad was "completely wrong". Of course it was far less technically detailed than your version and used more vague wording. But still it was not completely wrong, it still conveyed the same idea: WHDLoad is a program to run non-AmigaOS-compatible Amiga games and demos from within AmigaOS. You even used one or two of my paragraphs verbatim in your version. You wouldn't have done that if it was "completely wrong", would you?

EH? There is a misinterpretation of my words there. Do not assume I were aggressive, just forgive my poor english spoken. I didn't intend to be offensive, and there is nothing personal in my words just because I didn't even care of previous submitters. You just were "completely wrong" because you assumed WHDLoad it is an emulator and placed it in that category... You missed "completely" the category, and the purposes of the program... WHDLoad it is just a program to store and load amiga standard and non-standard (autostart) programs and game disks on HD and modern storage media getting rid of any previous storage media. AFAIK and AFAIR (As Far As I Read) about it there are no engines to perform any hardware emulation... And there are no drivers... Just any disk image has it is own loader-descriptions to make the original Amiga hardware to degrade automatically itself (if possible) and load that game... If the "slave" loader description were were a "driver" it had loaded the disk image anyway, anytime... But as being just a loading descriptor it does not makes "miracles" by emulating ancient hardware. So certain games could not being loaded by WHDLoad in any matter. If you had made little visit to WHDLoad site and a little Google search about how WHDload works, you could had avoided this harass to both of us, by issuing correct placement of WHDLoad software in Amiga related articles... Nothing prevents that further versions of WHDLoad could implement "slave" descriptors as being little emulators for minimal amiga hardware features missed in newer systems, but I never seen anything regarding it, neither there is something describing this behaviour of "slaves" into WHDload page. If I missed it, or if the WHDload main site there are new slaves acting as little emulators, please inform me of this fact, and obviously you are free to edit the WHDLoad page, according to the new discoveries about "slaves" structure, behaviour, and programming methods.

About the remaining of it, don't take any offense, you just misinterpreted the edit summary I made quick and hurry, and without any kind of rage towards you neither any intention to harm you.

Sorry for I answered you after three months. I did not linked since november, and just three days ago reconnected to Wikipedia. As a act of good will I want to inform you about the next Amiga related software articles I am planning to write: Hollywood and Hollywood Designer programs from Airsoft Softwair, and ZoneXplorer fractal experience from Miss Elena Novaretti, so you could help me improving these articles.

Unfortunately main ZoneXplorer domain has expired. I will advice Miss Novaretti about it.

[edit]

Hi, thanks for deleting Lost (TV series) to make way for it's restoration from the move vandalism, but something went wrong and the nonsense destination H.E.R.M.Y.?? was deleted as well!! Can we restore that? TheRhani (talk) 07:05, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see any problem here. The article Lost (TV series) is back at its proper name, and the vandalism article H.E.R.M.Y.?? has been deleted because it would be useless as a redirect. JIP | Talk 09:00, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, when I left the message here, all content had been deleted at both locations, but Bongwarrior had put in a request that ultimately got the article restored. Thanks. TheRhani (talk) 00:35, 22 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Question (just wondering)

[edit]

I came across an article you made, Abba-Dabba Yucca-Ducca Hifalutin Hoochy-Doochy, while browsing orphaned pages out of boredom. Just wondering why you chose to create a new article rather than just add the info to the main article (Fat Freddy's Cat). After all, as of now it only takes up one line. But who am I to argue with an admin ;) ~EdGl 21:58, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Kadis & Sean

[edit]

It seems that your rational for deleting my Kadis & Sean submition was based on this analysis: "Appears to be a leftover from hoax perpetrated last year." I'm very sorry, your deletion is based on "opinion," ("appears") not sufficient research or exstensive fact check. In your case I beleif you are the unfortunate victim of Cognitive Dissonance. In this case what appears to be the omission of sufficient data on Kadis and Sean's credits is actually a "non-fact" devoid of the context of "Real Data" Example: Kadis & Sean are in fact the producers of Donnell Jones' songs "If You Want", which appeared on the "Journey of A Gemini" CD/Album. Producer Ryan Leslie also received a production credit for this song as Kadis & Sean were signed to his production company "Next Selection" at the time the "track" was sold to Donnell Jones (Sean Garrett received a writers credit for the lyrics). However, Kadis & Sean did all of the actual production work, and they received "full" credit(on CD/AlBum/Publishing). Kadis & Sean's credits are listed on the CD jacket. This is the historic designation where producers receive "public" credit for their work as well as with ASCAP or other publishing/tracking corporations. Research on the web will not neccessarily turn up true CD/Album/Publishing credits. The CD Jacket is the determining source. Hence, you have been the victim of Cognitive Dissonance. Moreover, an exstensive search on wikipedia will validate that producer credits are not backed by reference/end notes. Thus, where you see that I as the creator of, most if not all, of the Kadis and Sean facts here on wikipedia, is becuase I am in fact placing them where the have "actual and factual" CD/ALBUM/Publishing credits. Because the "DUO" are "actually" on established artists CDs, who have established Wikipedia pages, it "APPEARS" that I'm adding them to "established wikipedia articles" to gain non earned credibility...NOT! Thi sis what Wikipedia is actually for...Correct information...not Hype, Marketing, Advertising, and Branding. If I have broken Wikipedia rules, please forgive me. If given proper notice and legitimate direction, I can make proper changes. I did this last year, and made proper revisions until you came along and "OPINED" on an "APPEARS." However, you actually deleted Kadis & Sean based on "Lazy Research". I forgive you. Please don't take offense. This may happen again with another administrator in the future. Hopefully this "Talk segment" may help in the future as well. So that Kadis & Sean "Appear" more notable to novice administrators, I will hold off resubmitting the Kadis & Sean page until after the release of the upcoming "Menudo" CD where Kadis & Sean have 3 songs, the "THE DEY" CD where they have 2 songs, Noel Gourdin where the produced the Song "Reach" with grammy award winning songwriters "The Clutch"...etc. Albeit, In the future know that a "real" producers job is to stay in the back and let the artist/s shine. DIDDY is not the standard bearer of the historic music producer. You must "check, research, study" CD/Publishing credits to see where real genius resides. As an administrator, you should never get caught in the hype of internet marketing!

Thank you for your time. Oh BTW, google/research the song "Chase da Cat" by 50Cent and G-Unit, it is all over the radio stations and on youtube, as we speak. Oh, Kadis & Sean did the production, got paid for their work...but no credit is given on these websites thus far. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Teachwell (talkcontribs) 06:34, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Step Up to the Plate

[edit]

My impression was that the information about this film was severely outdated. There was no post-release information about it, so my recommendation for deletion was because it never got to production. A lot of projects make a move toward production, but never do so. A couple of popular examples are Fahrenheit 451 (2009 film) and Logan's Run (2010 film). —Erik (talkcontrib) - 16:58, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Aprilmayjune2.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Aprilmayjune2.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:07, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
