Megan Marshak - Marshack

Hi - thanks for the close. I've looked into the spelling of the name, and the correct one appears to be MARSHACK, not Marshak. This was determined a while ago and lost when the article was deleted I think. I've corrected the text, but I don't want to mess up the redirect stuff - it should be MEGAN MARSHAK renamed to MEGAN MARSHACK (so the history remains intact) and the current MEGAN MARSHACK redirect page should become MEGAN MARSHAK and redirect to MEGAN MARSHACK. That was the most convoluted sentence I've written in a long time - hope the meaning is clear. MARSHACK is the correct spelling. thanks Tvoz |talk 19:57, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Deletions into redirects

Hello! :) In March, Death dog was nominated for deletion. At the time, there was no suitable page for this article to be redirected to, so based on the consensus, you deleted the article. I have created a new page, List of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 1st edition monsters, which would be a proper destination to merge and/or redirect the article to. I'm wondering if it's possible to restore the original article, and turn it into a redirect, thus preserving the edit history?

Also, if you are amenable to it, I would like Blood hawk, Jermlaine, Boobrie (Dungeons & Dragons), Thessalmonster, and Pech (Dungeons & Dragons) restored and redirected to List of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 1st edition monsters, which were all deleted at the same time as Death dog under the same circumstances. Why was this deleted DURING a major edit and before the discussion concluded?

In this major edit each sentence mistakenly assumed to be a mere opinion of the suthor "Will Geist" was being deleted. All that remain will have their relevant references attached.

This article owes NOTHING to the ideas of Will Geist Will Geist, as a newcomer to Wikipedia, is merely trying to report how the theory has arisin from the interfisciplinary interaction betweeen the references.

New Project

Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.

If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. 1. Another reader has already complained about this on Talk:El-Mahalla El-Kubra without any reply. I suppose that could count as a discussion in the sense that the other party had ample opportunity to defend their side.

2. My edit was not vandalism, and therefore I don't see why your revert was justified. Do you think that every time somebody comes along and adds a large chunk of unreadable material to an article we have to start discussing it before removing? It is not from wikitravel and there doesn't seem to be any copyright problems, it's simply an automatic translation of the Arabic Wikipedia article, possibly using Google. I didn't know it was an acceptable practice on Wikipedia to copy-paste entire articles from other languages, translate them using bots into unreadable text and just leaving them there for somebody else to decypher them. Furthermore, this is the first time I see an administrator defending this practice.

Now, this was the course of events up until now: two months ago somebody added this auto-translation to the article (followed by some minor vandalism by a few anon-IP's). Today I removed this rubbish and you reincorporated it (with a couple of tags thrown in for good measure). If you think this material is Wikipedia-worthy -- then I suppose it will stay there, I don't care and I don't intend to argue about it any more.--128.139.104.49 (talk) 23:56, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Modern poetry

I just saw that you closed this AfD as a redirect to Modernist poetry. First, a technical comment. There seems to be some kind of formatting error at the AfD page right now since the closure box that you created only encompasses about half of the actual AfD. Second, could you please explain why you closed as a redirect to Modernist poetry rather than a plain delete or a redirect to something else? By looking at the AfD, I can see that only one editor actually was specifically in favor of redirecting to Modernist poetry. There were two more "Delete and redirect" votes that did not specify the destination and did not discuss where it should be redirected to and why. There were two more plain delete votes, one "Strong delete with no redirect", one "strong delete rather than redirect", one "Redirect to history of poetry" and one more vote (mine) "Delete", where I argued against redirecting to Modernist poetry. It is hard for me to see how one can interpret these results as a consensus for Modernist poetry as a redirect destination. There was a clear consensus to delete but regarding whether or not to redirect and if yes, where to, I don't think there was any consensus. It seems to me that a plain delete would have been a more appropriate close under these circumstances. Could you take another look? Thanks, Nsk92 (talk)

I've been talking with this IP regarding the edits made. The IP has said "I'm the only one who uses this computer if that's what you mean. The Internet is thru my college so I don't know if that affects it. I didn't make any disruptive edits so I'm sorry you think that."
