User talk:JDGraves
Hey, I noticed you were looking for help earlier with uploading images. In case you still need help, here's the basics:
- If it's a photo you took, you should upload it into the public domain or use a free license (Either a Creative Commons license, the GFDL, or both)
- If it's something you found on the internet, it's probably copyrighted. You can still upload it, but you must use the most appropriate copyright tag possible and make sure your description contains all the information required in WP:NFCC. Failure to do so will result in the image being deleted.
- My adopt-a-user lesson on copyrights here may also be of some help to you. If you need more help, you can ask at Wikipedia talk:Copyright problems or put up another helpme template. Hersfold (t/a/c) 03:48, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for replying. I didn't know if anyone was around to help. I am making a Wikipedia Entry for the members of the group Celtic Thunder, and I have the permission of their producer to do so. She is willing to send me photos to use, but I am unsure under which licence to post them, to ensure that they are not removed. Thanks!
- The only reason these templates go unanswered for a long time is if nobody knows what you're talking about - there's a bot on IRC that reports to us when someone adds one of those.
- Anyway, I would assume these are promotional pictures of some form, either press kit material or album covers or something. As such, these would be copyrighted, so you'll need to use one of these templates:
- {{Non-free album cover}} for album artwork
- {{Non-free logo}} for the logo of the band
- {{Non-free promotional}} for press kit stuff
- Then, in the image description, make sure you have ALL of the following.
- Where you got the picture from
- What the picture is of
- Why you can't get an uncopyrighted picture to replace this one (see important note below)
- What article you plan to use it in (with a [[link]])
- Some statement that it can't be used for commercial purposes (make sure the image is of low resolution before you upload to back this up)
- Note that copyrighted images of people are not allowed and will be deleted. This is because someone can easily take a picture of person X themselves and upload it under a free license - people's faces aren't copyrightable. I hope this helps, but if not, you know what to do. :-) Hersfold (t/a/c) 04:09, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Ryan Kelly (Singer)
[edit]A tag has been placed on Ryan Kelly (Singer) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Jmlk17 03:38, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
