Information icon Hello, JCRobinson119. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.--VVikingTalkEdits 13:41, 11 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I am new to this, so forgive me if I don't know all your procedures. What forms should I be filling out and where can I find them?

I have much more of a stake in making sure that CARB-X, its Executive Director, and the important work they do to address drug-resistant bacteria are on the Wikipedia site, than any financial stake. I work for CARB-X. If I can't post something that is neutral, who can? Who is allowed to post material about legitimate organizations that others might be interested in researching? Please help me understand what the problem is.

I removed the external links to the CDC's Pathogens list (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and to the WHO, as well as the Chatham House Institute in London. I guess I could also remove the link to the German government's Ministry of Education as well.

Please explain.

As previously advised, your edits give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:JCRobinson119, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=JCRobinson119|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. Please respond before making any other edits to Wikipedia. --VVikingTalkEdits 19:20, 11 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Now I am really confused. I have read all the various instruction pages on copyrighted materials and what Wikipedia is not. I am not sure what you are referring to when you say that you removed copyright material, but as you removed half of Outterson's biographical material and all the factual description about CARB-X, I am guessing that is what is causing the problem. But if you could be more specific about what is wrong with his bio material (which is all factual and public), that would be very helpful. I work for CARB-X and the description of it is very much in the public domaine as well. I created the description of CARB-X that I used on Wiki. Its description is not subject to copyright. We and CARB-X funders (most of whom are already on Wiki) are happy to share these facts on Wikipedia - but I can't figure out what form I need to fill out, or sign, or post, to make it acceptable to you. The instructions on that are unclear. On another point, I removed almost all the external links at the request of another Wiki editor, so I don't understand why now you are telling me that I can use external websites as a source of information. Two questions: Can I create a separate entry on Wikipedia for CARB-X? What do I need to change in the bio material to make it acceptable? Jennifer

"factual and public" is not the same thing as "public domain". Wikipedia does not accept material copied from elsewhere online. Everything you add to Wikipedia needs to be written in your own words.— Diannaa (talk) 23:21, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Diannaa, I appreciate the clarification. Thanks.

Your draft article, Draft:CARB-X

[edit]

Hello, JCRobinson119. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "CARB-X".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. If you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. plicit 14:04, 11 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Explicit,

I believe I requested that the submission be restored as we would like to ensure that CARB-X, which is mentioned many time on Wikipedia by others, has its own submission. Apologies for the delay but we have had a number of other priorities over the past six months. My intention is to continue to try to shape a text that is suitable for Wikipedia. Again, this is not 'advertising' as one of your colleagues has suggested. We were trying to present facts in an impartial way, but we are struggling to understand your standards.

Could you please restore the text, and I will edit it again. Otherwise, I suppose I could try to create a new entry however, I am afraid that might be viewed as inappropriate by you one of your colleagues.

Please advise the best approach to resurrecting a text for CARB-X that will meet your standards.

Regards,

Jennifer Robinson (JCRobinson119)
