Czech Republic changes
[edit]Hi, please check out Talk:Czech Republic. Changing Czech Republic link is not encouraged.Jklamo (talk) 09:02, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
- It is not encouraged but not forbidden. --JéeM84 (talk) 15:28, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
- It is not forbidden, but repeatedly changing Czech Republic to Czechia is disruptive editing and could lead to bans or blocks. CrazyBoy826 (talk) 17:14, 9 April 2020 (UTC)
- It is considered disruptive, especially since your changes change a direct link to a redirect that just links back to Czech Republic. If you continue these edits you will be blocked for disruptive editing. Canterbury Tail talk 11:54, 1 May 2020 (UTC)
- I am not going to stop my activity. It is necessary to raise public awareness of the proper short form name of the country by using the term Czechia instead of the grammatically incorrect term "Czech" (if it is used as a country name) which is spreading among some native english speakers. But I am not going to be so much disruptive. As a proof of my goodwill I am going to avoid removing direct links.

- I hope that anybody else will join me and replace the Czech Republic with Czechia.--JéeM84 (talk) 08:26, 3 May 2020 (UTC)
- You should take it to the talk page of Czech Republic. However I notice there is a moratorium on discussions of it. Czech Republic is the common English name for it at this point. However yes all discussions should take place on the appropriate article. Also note that altering links so they read Czechia instead of Czech Republic, or otherwise altering references and mention of Czech Republic with Czechia is also disruptive editing. Until such time as on the article a new name is determined to be required, it is disruptive to alter it. I suggest you focus your efforts on the Czech Republic talk page. Canterbury Tail talk 22:00, 3 May 2020 (UTC)
- How to discuss with the people who dislike their country’s name (most of the opponents are Czechs)? It cannot be a rational discussion but emotional one. After almost thirty years of existence our country deserves to be called by its short form name. In fact there is no struggle whether we should call it the Czech Republic or Czechia because we just promote one-word name of the Czech Republic. It is neither Czech nor Czechlands. There is only one possible, grammaticaly correct option. And it is Czechia.--JéeM84 (talk) 03:41, 6 May 2020 (UTC)
- Take it to the appropriate talk page. If you change a reference to Czech Republic to read Czechia again, you will be blocked for disruptive editing. As I've said, take it to the Czech Republic talk page. Canterbury Tail talk 13:22, 6 May 2020 (UTC)
- If you block me, I will appeal against your decision. I just call my country by its name.--JéeM84 (talk) 04:28, 7 May 2020 (UTC)

Blocked
[edit]{{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
. - You have been blocked for continuing to change references to Czech Republic to read Czechia despite warnings not to. You continue to insist you will continue to make these changes to right great wrongs and, despite urgings, will not take it to discuss in the appropriate place. Canterbury Tail talk 13:03, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
{{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
. You have been blocked from editing Wikipedia for your continual single purpose disruptive editing of altering mentions from Czech Republic to Czechia and have given every indication you will continue this disruptive pattern despite having been reverted by many editors. Request reason:
I have been blocked because I dared to replace the full official name of my country (the Czech Republic) by its shorter version (Czechia) which is also official and the czech government approved its use. As a genuine patriot inspired by love of my fatherland I just used my country’s name. I would like to emphasize that I am not a vandal. I have created almost 300 articles (2 of them are the featured articles) in the czech wikipedia. [1], [2], [3] The main principle of the wikipedia is to provide knowledge and information. However in the case of the short-form name of the Czech Republic wikipedia do not fulfill this principle. As I stated above even among native english speakers there are doubts about what is the correct short version of the name of the CR. By your stubborn refusal to use Czechia wikipedia just contributes to the general confusion in this matter. From this reason I consider my punishment as an act of injustice and appeal against it. Decline reason:
You seem to be working hard to justify the block. Every part of your unblock request shows that this is indeed your single purpose and if the block was lifted, you would continue editing like this. Yamla (talk) 17:18, 14 June 2020 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
I will not continue if you finally accept the decision of the Czech goverment and replace the Czech Republic by Czechia. --JéeM84 (talk) 04:31, 15 June 2020 (UTC)
- You are not to edit or remove any declined unblock requests for your currently active block. If you do so again, you will lose access to this talk page. --Yamla (talk) 11:07, 15 June 2020 (UTC)
I am not sure what you are talking about. But it is ok. You can humiliate me as you want. I am just a poor east European. You can prescribe me what is my country’s name. Because the decision of my government is nothing in comparison with the decision of a few people in wikipedia.--JéeM84 (talk) 20:54, 15 June 2020 (UTC)
- Czechia/Czech Republic is a wonderful country with a fascinating history. The problem is, all you are interested in is changing Czech Republic to Czechia. This makes you a single purpose account. See WP:SPA, see WP:BATTLEGROUND, see WP:RIGHTGREATWRONGS. If this is your only goal here, this is the end of the line. If you can explain why your edits were disruptive, if you can convince us your entire approach will change if the block is lifted, you may be considered for an unblock. Frankly, it doesn't matter what the correct name is, whether it's Czech Republic or Czechia or both. You aren't blocked for that, you are blocked for being disruptive. Step back, take a look at your approach, and consider if you wish to change your approach and be unblocked. If so, request an unblock. If not, no problem and no hard feelings, but we are done here. --Yamla (talk) 21:21, 15 June 2020 (UTC)
Your response reveals that the policy of wikipedia in this issue (Czech Rep./Czechia) is wrong. It doesn’t matter? So, why have I been blocked? If I had changed the official name of the Federal Republic of Germany by its informal version, would I have been blocked too? A country’s name is something like a brand. We deserve to have one (like the other countries) but you deprive us of it. And do not tell me that the Czech Republic is an appropriate brand. Would anybody buy shoes labelled “Nike, Inc., a major American marketer of athletic shoes”? It is an impractical nonsense to call a state by its full official name.
A single purpose account? Please don’t try to insult me. I had been working very hard for almost fourteen years in a sister project. Some examples of my work: [4], [5], [6], [7], [8]
Were my edits really disruptive? I made one or two edits a day for several months. I expected that somebody will change it immediately. In fact in most cases it took a long time (in some cases even months). It doesn't look like anybody would suffer any harm by it.
I am persuaded that it is wikipedia who should change its approach in this issue.JéeM84 (talk) 20:00, 18 June 2020 (UTC)

I swear I will no longer continue to disrupt wikipedia by changing the Czech Republic to Czechia. JéeM84 (talk) 19:37, 17 November 2020 (UTC)

There are places to express your love for your country, this is not one of them. We are here to write an encyclopedia. I concur with Yamla that you will need to agree to a broad topic ban from edits related to your country as part of being unblocked, and tell us what you will edit about instead. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 17:43, 18 November 2020 (UTC)

What will you do if unblocked? As noted above, you aren't blocked specifically for your edits, but for how you went about them. How will your approach change? 331dot (talk) 20:13, 17 November 2020 (UTC)
- I just want to express my opinion in the discussion that will arise from another Requested move of the Czech Republic to Czechia. JéeM84 (talk) 16:51, 18 November 2020 (UTC)
- No. Again, see WP:SPA. I oppose any unblock request here unless it is accompanied by a wide ranging WP:TOPICBAN. Until this latest statement, I was hopeful this editor would stop being a single-purpose account, but it's clear to me I was mistaken. --Yamla (talk) 16:57, 18 November 2020 (UTC)
Ok, I’ve just wanted to express my opinion as a proud Czech citizen who loves his country. Look at my page on Czech wikipedia. [9] Do you really believe my account is single-purposed? JéeM84 (talk) 17:14, 18 November 2020 (UTC)
Fine, enjoy your power. JéeM84 (talk) 17:49, 18 November 2020 (UTC)
- It's not about power, it's about your actions. 331dot (talk) 17:52, 18 November 2020 (UTC)
- Actions? I had spent almost fourteen years by improving articles about history especially ancient history in a sister project and I am not entitled to express my opinion in a matter that is relating to my country? First I had been translating articles from english and german versions. Then I was creating my own articles. I had done for this encyclopedia much more than you both. Shame on you. JéeM84 (talk) 18:08, 18 November 2020 (UTC)
- I'm sorry you feel that way. I want no user blocked, but disruption cannot be tolerated. As I said, there are proper places to express your love for your country(even your user page would be okay). Wikipedia is not a free speech forum. I regret causing you bad feelings. Good day. 331dot (talk) 19:21, 18 November 2020 (UTC)
- I appreciate you are so considerate. JéeM84 (talk) 20:21, 18 November 2020 (UTC)
